6mm rem load data

Re: 6mm rem load data

I have had excellent results with H4831 and Seirra 100gr Gamekings for hunting loads in two rifles (Rem M788 & Ruger #1). Both coming in at 3100 fps and 1/2 moa 5 shot groups. I would think that you would have equally good results with the heavier bullets.

Re: 6mm rem load data

47.2 grs H4831, CCI200, WW brass, Sierra 100gr SBT, COL is maximum to function in factory magazine (whatever that is). The barrel is a factory 22" bbl.
I very lightly touch the shoulder when using a full length sizing die.
I approached maximum in 0.3 grs steps.
Bare in mind the old 4831 powder was slower burning than it is now. I no longer have that old 788 and I not only reload for my Ruger #1. I use a lighter load in the #1, the 26" bbl makes for the lighter charge.
Bottom line approach maximum very carefully. Use a chronograph if possible.

That's the furthest I have shot it so far. Pressure is getting up there, but I am using CCi BR2's and R-P brass, seating is 3.120" as this is a single shot 40X based rifle.

Hope that helps </div></div>

I thought we shot some of the 107's with RL17 too? Or am I thinking of the 257?

Re: 6mm rem load data

Never tried R17 but I'm getting 3200 with a 107 SMK from 47 gr of R22 fireforming for my 6mm Ackley with outstanding accuracy. If R17 doesn't do well try R22 and see if that works for you.

Re: 6mm rem load data

tank you very much, i have a rem 788 in the same caliber 22 inches factory barrel, a very short barrel for this caliber.

Re: 6mm rem load data

I just began running some loads of both R22 and R17. Both have much improved grouping than h4831. 45 grains of R22 with 105 amax and 41 gr. of R17 with 105 amax. I cnt beleive it but the amax is shooting much better than the 107 smk. Anyways thanks to the input so far.
