Hey everyone I was gifted a Winchester model 70 in 6 mm Remington. I’m not sure of the twist rate. I’ve read some are 1:12 and some are 1:9.

I’m looking for a variety of ammo to take it out and test what works the best for the first time. The only stuff I can find is either 95 or 100 grain, besides hendershots extreme who has a variety but there around $45 and up a box.

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on what would work best. Lookin for something around 75g 80g or 85g.

What’s the intended use?
It’s only going to be used for target shooting at the range to learn basic fundamentals on. I have a range near me that has steel out to 900 yards. It has a 4x18x44 scope on it. I’d eventually like to get into long range precision shooting and will upgrade to a rifle specifically for that down the road.

I have found 100 grain Remington Corelocks to be surprisingly accurate in my rifle which is a 1:10 twist, but they are not really the best choice for target shooting. 6mm Remington is a tough chambering to find good Factory ammo choices. I reload for mine and have had great results with Berger 95gr VLDs.
