Re: 6x45 deer and hog load wanted

I shot a medium size 6 pointer about 25 years ago with a 6X45 chambered in a XP100 with a 15" barrel. I used a Sierra 85 gr HPBT thinking that it would work well with the 15" tube. The shot was about 50 yards, right behind the shoulder and the bullet exploded on hitting a rib sending bits of lead, jacket, and bone into its heart & lungs,Killing him on the spot but I think I just got lucky as my choice of bullet and reason for choosing it were 100% WRONG!

Was it a match king? I have been using the 77gr SMK on hogs in my 223 with great results. It breaks ribs coming in, and going out with major destruction in between.

It's been so long ago I don't remember. I do remember the bullet as a unit never made it into the chest, The inside looked like it was hit with a 410 shotgun shell with #8 shot.

I do remember that I was using a Fed match primer and H322 powder and it could hit a crow past 300 & groundhogs a good bit farther if I did my part. I know that today that is nothing but back in those days it was impressive at least to me with a handgun.

Assuming you have the twist rate for it. Otherwise, find a better solution. </div></div>

Have you ran it threw a chronograph?

How long are the 100gr BTSP's?

I have always liked the Interlock bullet.
