I'm looking for some data for the 75gr. and 87gr. v-maxes.I'm using a 7.5 twist kreiger and org. built to shoot the 105-115 range which i do but want a explosive ground hog load as well. Also with the fast twist how fast can the lighter bullets be pushed without a prob? Thanks for any info.

Re: 6XC Load Data Needed

The 75's might be to light for a 1:7.5. The 87's should be ok. I would give H4350 a try and start at 40gr. or RL-15 and start with about 32 grains and work up from there.

I would think you should be able to get to around 3100 + fps.

Take care,Stan

Re: 6XC Load Data Needed

I had a krieger 7.5 that would blow up 80gr bullets like there was no tomorrow...didnt do it early on, but when it got long in the tooth, it poofed a bunch of them in a match....luckily just a local fun match and not a big match. I would go a bit bigger on the bullet, or slower on the twist.

high speed, small bullet and fast twist can be bad for bullet hold-together.

Re: 6XC Load Data Needed

I loaded up my first batch of 6xc ammo on Labor Day and plan to get my latest GAP out to the range this weekend. Using 115 dtacs with an OAL of 2.780" and dropping 3 test loads of 37.5, 38.0 & 38.5 grains of Reloader 17, I was suprised at how much empty space was left in the case. Does this sound normal?

Re: 6XC Load Data Needed

I haven't personally shot any reloader 17 out of my 6xc rifles, but what you are saying sounds right. I have a lot of empty space running 39.5 of H4350. (BTW, this load is too hot for some rifles. Work up if you want to try it.)
