Had my mind made up that my next barrel was going to be chambered in 6xc before I got lost in the 6xc vs 6xcii. Before I start buying reloading components can someone explain to me the difference in these two chambers? Is there an advantage of one over the other? Is there a difference in brass (feed easily in one but heavy bolt in the other) or dies? Thanks.

If you want to use Tubb 6xc dies, you need to stay with the original 6xc. It would be best to use a Manson reamer spec’d by Mr. Tubb. Petersen 6xc brass is excellent and priced right. Norma will also work fine.

If you decide to use a 6xcII reamer, you will want to use sizing dies by Robert Whitley (Redding dies) or Whidden dies. There is no issue at all using Petersen or Norma brass in a 6xcII chamber.

I would not use Alpha 6xc brass if you bought me a rifle, gave me the brass for free, and paid me $5 for every shot I took with it. It is not worth losing my eyes or appendages.

I have a 6XC CIP reamer that I had Lee chamber a barrel with a few weeks ago. Decided to go the simple route, if that is good enough for the European 300m shooters it's good enough for me. Being a CIP standard it will fit Norma brass. Got the reamer from PTG. This is the second barrel with this reamer, nice to know what you get. Would recommend getting one.

PS Lee did excellent work on the installation.
