I'm new here. I am really interested in 6XC. So could some of you give a brief rundown on what's working for you. I read David Tubb's recommendations from his website. I would like to know from you guys.

    Twist?
    Length?
    Bullet?
    Brass?
    Dies?
    Powder?
    Chamber Type (SAAMI) (CIP) ?
    Short Throat?
    Long Throat?
    Neck Diameter?

If I want to shoot PRS type matches what's your take? There are different reamers and dies etc. What say you?
    Please and Thank You.

I think the 6xc is a great choice for prs shooting. I shot that and a 6 dasher. I don’t ha e a ton of experience with it yet but it shot very well for me with 110 A Tips. Those are pretty expensive bullets to shoot so I would probably look into the 115 dtacs. Most people run a 26 inch barrel. I prefer a m24 or mtu contour. For powder I use h4350

My stuff is listed in the threads above but 26" remage abd norma brass with a 105 rdf with 39.4-39.5 of H4350 .025 off the lands was great at 2980 fps and 39.7-39.8 or rl16 with the same jump was great as well at 3070 fps. Bother were within a half grain of pressure signs but never gave me any at the marginally lower listed weights.

26” 7.25 twist S&H barrel , danish brand you prob cant get your hands on .
so far i have only shot 105 grain blems ,but they do make some nice really nice groups with N550 and n150 pushing them forward

6XC made since a few years ago, but with the commercial support of 6mm Creedmoor, why would you want to stray elsewhere? There's way more brass availability, more die choices, and even a bunch of factory ammo choices to have some on hand in a pinch. Performance is similar, so why chamber for something that has a supply disadvantage and will be a tougher resale if you ever decide to dump it?

6XC last longer round count wise than 6 creed and not everyone needs factory ammo.

And you can run 6creed into a 6xc die and it will be 6XC. Also many brass makers such as alpha and Peterson make 6XC.

Die choices Redding, forster, widden and RCBS make 6xc dies.

But you do make a good point with the factory ammo.

6XC does have a pretty standard reciepe and it will shoot. So the load development is fast.

    To the OP

I follow tubbs reciepe it always works.

6xc was my first and still is my caliber for PRS. I had area 419 chamber a 26” Bartlein 1:7 twist barrel for me I dk the dimensions of anything I just know they free bored it for Berger 105 hybrids and it shoots those phenomenal. I run Peterson and alpha SRP brass with H4350 at 3050fps. I use Whidden dies and they are great as well. I really like the caliber though I haven’t shot many other calibers at this point but I have no reason to switch. Good luck with it if you decide to go for it!

I've built quite a few of both XC and Creed for myself and a few others. The XC in every rifle I've built has been easier to work up a load and had a wider node than the Creed. The Creed tends to be more picky in comparison to the XC. The XC is basically the 6.5x47 of the 6mm world (full size cartridge...not the dasher/BR mini category). Unless factory support is needed I always recommend the XC over the Creed.
