Hey guys I believe I’m posting this in the correct spot if I am not someone please tell me. I just bought the gen 2 seekins havak elements in 7 prc I bought Peterson brass, CCI 250 primers, Berger 168 elite hunters. I could use some help on a powder choice. I would like to be atleast 2800 fps more if possible. I started yesterday with h1000 at 64 grains and I was around 2560 fps I know that’s a mild load and I’m going to keep working it up until I start seeing pressure just wasn’t sure if anyone had any suggestions on a better powder choice. With this only having a 20” barrel I know it will be harder to achieve the higher velocities. Also I would like to stick with the 168’s but could also bump up to the 175’s if someone’s has a good load.

Try some 150BD2’s
May start off with H4831 and R23 then go to slower powders.
I think .020 off is where you will begin, really never messed with monos much. But I’ve got an 8tw so no issue there.

I'm currently at 70gr h1000 with 184gr bergers in adg brass and cci200. In my 26" barrel I'm seeing 3035fps and zero pressure, 4x fired brass. With 168gr and 20" barrel, might try a powder that is a hair faster burn rate than h1000, maybe 4831sc?

Appreciate the responses! I know hornady says max load is 66 grains which I know you can always go over but I wasn’t sure how high you can go before your crushing powder.

Keep in mind, every chamber is different and I was using standard lr primers. I think you've got some room to go up, just watch primer condition, bolt lift, and watch for ejector swipe. How many rds on barrel?

This says 69

That good to know maybe I misread at 66 so I may have enough room to work it up to a good velocity. I will jump to 66 and run 3 shot groups up from there in half grain increments to make sure I don’t develop Any pressure signs. It’s a brand new gun so 5 rounds haha

I'm at 67gr H1000 and 180VLDs @ 2950 in 22".
You could continue working up until you see the results you're after or pressure signs show up.
