Yeah, I know its a personal decisions and a highly subjective question but I am on the verge of dropping serious coin into a .300WM and now I am having second thoughts. I have a .22-250 and .308 but for some reason I just had to have a LA 700. I picked up a LH 700 .300WM with a Sendero barrel. I was about to put a BO base on it and pull the trigger on a NSX 5.5-22 with all the bells and whistles. I already have dies, powder, primers, brass, etc to reload for it. I just cant seem to part with another $2000 for something that does essentially the same as something I already have. My range is 600yards and have no place further to shoot. If I sell the .300 I think I would rebarrel the .308 to .260 and have the trigger done, receiver trued, etc. and drop it in a Manners stock, and still may have a few buck left over.

What say you?

If you are only going to shoot to 600 and only interested in shooting paper, and want rational ideas I think selling it and either having work done to your 308 to improve it's accuracy/features (if needed) or to converted to .260 is a fine idea. Myself I think I'd keep the .308 or have it worked on over just because it's a cheap fun caliber to shoot especially if you are already setup to reload for it, and more than capable inside 600. If you were hunting with it or may hunt with it a case could be made for the 300wm.

All that said rational ideas don't usually jive 100% with want/desire so it's all good.

I was the opposite awhile ago. I had a big heavy custom .308 built but have the opportunity to shoot 1000+ and having a 17 pound .308 that was limited in range just seemed like a waste (when I already had a 10 pound LTR that shot right with it) so I sold it to build something with more range.
