700 sa stock inquiry

I am new to the forum and I am attempting to upgrade a short action model 700 that I've purchased for my son to hunt with, it has the typical cheap ADL "synthetic stock".

I've used the search engine to check out different stocks and have became overwhelmed by the many options.

I'm wanting a quality stock in a "hunting or classic design" as this is not going to be a tactical type rig.

If anyone has any reccomendations on one feel free to post it. If someone has one that they are willing to part with drop me a PM, im not scared to buy a used one as I know he will probably be hard on it anyway.

I would say look at Bell & Carlson stocks. They have some nice stocks for $200-$300 price range. Stockysstocks.com carries this brand a few other brands you could take a look at.

B&C stocks to look at, the A2 and the M40.

I happen to be selling a brand new B&C A2 stock in Tan with Black web... Never used. Came with gun package. Its for a Rem 700 SA too!

I also have a Wyatts Detach Mag system with 2 5rd mags brand new as well!.....

if you have the money go for a McMillan, if not do what i did and get a B&C. they are great stocks and don't think you bought a lesser stock if you get one.

$50 for DevCon 10110 or MarineTex, stiffen the synthetic, free float it...learn a new skill with your son, add a side sling swivel while you're at it! Then tell him to get a job and save up for an XLR.

i had a great shooting 700 bdl 30-06. changed stocks to rem. factory synthetic and never shot the same again. stay away!!!!

mcmillan and manner work out about hte same price with lots of option in colours, shape, weight etc.
B&C are more affordable and also many options in shape and colour too.. try a few before buying for fit
