hey guys i just have a quick question,i am starting a new build next year with this rifle trying to find a good load to use.i have broken the choices to two loads,FGMM 175GRN. or the hornady superformance 178grn. my question is what bullet will stabilize better in the 1in12 twist 308win.

Re: 700p 308win1in12twist

FYI if you want reliable answers you may want to give the pertinent information in your question ie

Q: which projectile is more likely (it is yes/no not better/worse) to stabilize in a 1 in 10 .308 -- 178 Amax or 175 SMK (someone's guess of which projectile is in the named cartridges may not be correct)

A: 175 SMK -- the A max is much closer to the margin where it may not stabilize -1.71 stability factor vs 1.46 stability factor

or to put it another way the 175 SMK will work - 178 Amax is likely to work

Re: 700p 308win1in12twist

I dont have any problems with stability in my 12 twist SPSS with these 178HPBTs.

Re: 700p 308win1in12twist

No problems with the 168gr AMAX not key holeing at 1000yds with a 1-12 twist rate, but I am shooting it at 2700fps at a max load of 43.5gr of Varget. Wind though is another story.

Re: 700p 308win1in12twist

From 168 to 180 for out to 1000 and past. All work really well. I use 43 grain varget for 168 and 175 and 42.5 grain on the 180 gr. all SMK. They work very well for me. Bergers are great but they cost too damn much. If its factory the Federal Match king. They come with SMKs. And the M118L work very well.

fuck george63, tone back the attitude. simple question, simple answer. dont get all butt hurt about how in depth the question is asked. you want to be an ass, how bout this, they asked 1-12, not 1-10 like you stated.

for an answer, not like a prude dickhole, have you given much thought about 155's? Telling you, they work well, and with far less drop. something for you to think about.
