Hi all,

THe only firearms dealer within realistic driving distance to me doesnt stock anything heavier than 64 grain powershocks for 223.

I wanted to experiment with something heavier and he said he'll order in some hornady 75 grain hollow point boat tails.... but I have the buy a minimum of $500, which I dont mind.

Only thing is this.

I dont want to buy $500 worth of them and then find out that my rifle cant stabalize them.

So can anyone help me out.

Im shooting a tikka tac in .223 and if Im not mistaken the tikka tac comes in 20" barrel with 1/8 twist.

Im thinking a 75 grain should be ok with that rifle....

But if anyone has an expereince or knows something I dont know, well then Id be very grateful to hear from you.

I only have a bunch of 80 grain SMK. You can simply go on line and order from Sinclair, or Midway USA anything you want in 100 ct boxes. You'll have it in a week. If you want to try the 80 grains, let me know, and I'll send you a few.

Thanks for the very generous offer STR. I really appreciate it. Only thing is Im Irish, so if a couple of bullets arrived by post the local Garda wouldnt be very impressed. And its the same for ordering off Midway etc the amount of paperwork invovled just wouldnt be worth it. But Im very gratefull all the same. Thank you.

Re: 75 grains 223

I have been doing some reading on past threads about the 75 grains in Tikka Tac. Stabilization doesnt really seem to be a problem.

But.... it seems a good few people have issues with the Tikka magazine not accepting 75grains due the lenght and have to hand load them directly into the breech.

Im going to chance it and buy the $500 worth of them. So long as they stabalize I dont care. I can live with hand loading them manually, just means I'll really have to start trying for the "one shot one kill" theory.
