Hi guys, do you think I can get away with a 75gr Hornady in a 700 with a 1-9 twist. Got a line on these but dont want to spend on them if they wont shoot past 300 yards.

Hey, Thank you get getting all this put together. Sounds like folks with the 700P are having the best luck with the 69's. I guess i'll just stick with them.Personally I wouldn't buy them.
Maybe you get away with it, maybe you don't. I don't know. I always get 1/7 twist for 223/556 barrels.
I think 69 smks are probably as "heavy" as you want to go in a 1/9 twist.
Here's some threads with more insight.
Any luck with heavies in a 1:9 twist .223?
If so, what's your load. I am running a Stag/S&W hybrid M-4 with a 1:9 twist. I get good results with 60ish grain bullets, but was thinking I might want to try something in the heavier/better BC class so I am reaching out to the experts.www.snipershide.com
223 1-9 twist
Hey guys, Looking for some honest input here. Running a 700P in 223, 1-9 twist factory tube. I know these things rick ragged holes with 68-69gr pills. I have never loaded heavier than that in the 223. My question is this, with the 1-9 twist, how heavy a pill will it stabalize? Is it feasible...www.snipershide.com
1-7 or 1-9 twist..WHICH IS BETTER for AR-M4??
1-7 or 1-9 twist..WHICH IS BETTER for AR-M4?? I have a 1/9 on my Bushy and the groups are about baseball size at 50 yrds with ACOG ta33-8. My RRA has a 1/7 and the groups at 50 yrds are quarter size with my irons. I am thinking I am shaky with the ACOG because sometimes I can hold a tighter grop...www.snipershide.com
being in Ten now, I cant find alt or cool weather. The summer time soup weather would not help for sure.I shot thousands of 75 A-Max through Remington 700 .223's with 1:9 twist and they always stabilized and shot great with no apparent detriment to the BC. I am at 3000 ft altitude which does help with stability.
thanks brotherI tried 77 gr hand loads out of a 1:9 AR barrel. Most of the bullets that found the paper, did so sideways. It is sub moa with my 62 gr handloads.
sweet, how do your groups look at distance? Do you have any keyholing?I shoot 80.5’s out of a 1/9 so……
OutstandingThey look good. No keyholes. 26” barrel.
What program do you use for that? They look good. No keyholes. 26” barrel.
Sub MOA on iPhoneWhat program do you use for that?
Didn't Rem. offer a "police special"in 223 with a 1-7 twist so they could use FGMM 223 w/ 77 SMK ?Interesting. You measure the twist?
I'd do some searching for twist / stabilizer programs . Which H 75 are you looking at ? the 75 BTHP, the 75 A Max, or the 75 ELD-M ?Hi guys, do you think I can get away with a 75gr Hornady in a 700 with a 1-9 twist. Got a line on these but dont want to spend on them if they wont shoot past 300 yards.

I am about 3500 and my factory Remington 1 in 9 would not shoot the 75 a max. Its was fine with the 77 SMK though.I shot thousands of 75 A-Max through Remington 700 .223's with 1:9 twist and they always stabilized and shot great with no apparent detriment to the BC. I am at 3000 ft altitude which does help with stability.
