Did you notice no NATO symbol?

Did you notice the LR?

Did you notice the 12?

We have more than a few here that might have info on why a batch 2012 LC brass became Pull Down.
Evidently, you and me ain't one of them. ;^ )

Re: 762 LC PRIMED BRASS PULL DOWN at MidSouthSS

Last I knew, M118LR was assembled at Quantico.

LC having nothing to do with it but the brass.

I was just asking if someone knew why the Pull Down...
bad primers? ;^ )

Ah hell, the Military or History Channel did an episode that that showed M118LR undergoing developement @ 1993 or so at Quantico. They showed a Marine/s doing QC and assembly in stages. It sure wasn't mass production runs and each load was weighed. And the episode stated or emplied that it would be made at Quantico so that the USMC had total control. I'll try and find it.

No biggie. Just thought that Quantico carried on with the manufacturing of the round to this day.

I was in '76-'86, and humped the M40A1 and taught at Stone Bay in '85-'86. We shit-canned more than a few Lot #s in the '80s of M118 from LC.

Re: 762 LC PRIMED BRASS PULL DOWN at MidSouthSS

development and production are very different... M118LR, which uses a 175gr SMK did derive from what some people called "mexican match"... which was pulling the bullets and remeasuring the charge, then loading a "better" bullet...

76-86, when you were in, the tooling at LC was worn completely out, they've since retooled

Re: 762 LC PRIMED BRASS PULL DOWN at MidSouthSS

my point is... the brass you linked is pull down brass, true surplus ammunition can't be sold on the open market ( from what I understand), but surplus components can...

so all surplus ammo is pulled down... you'll see some Federal LC stamped ammo, they run LC, but it'll be boxed and branded differently, usually w/ an "x", IE XM193 vs M193...

if you'll look, there are a couple of threads selling pulled 175SMKs from M118LR, I often buy pull down RL15 powder from M118LR...

it can be pulled down because of QC, overrun, several reasons...

if I needed any 308 brass, I'd probably jump on the link you posted... the fact that it was tumbled before being offered, tells me maybe it had appearance issues on the brass... I don't really like that it was tumbled while primed, so I'd probably pop all the primers w/o a charge and then treat it as unprimed brass
