Anyone who has shot/owns one that can tell me if they are worth the money. Like the action, mag, stock, but do they shoot good? If so I will buy one. If not then savage or cz. To me a pretty gun that I like to look at, but won't shoot sucks. Please advise.

Love my X17

The ruger mags are the best out there, the acrion is better than any of the other rimfires I've shot. It is very accurate for a 17hmr and is tough on a prairie dog town. It doesnt get shot much anymore since 17hmr ammo has gone up so much and I can reload quality 223 for less.

since you don't shoot it you could sell it to me;)

"Whatever you do dont waste your money on a jard trigger. Its terrible."

I tried 2 of the 77/22 Jard trigger/sear combos with a multiple weight spring kit, a "silver" colored one that is great with a consistent 11 oz pull no feeling of creep, and no overtravel, and a "blued" one that just could not be adjusted safely without overtravel and creep.

The Spec-Tec Industries trigger I just put in a 7/22 Hornet is very nice, but it did take ALOT of fitting on the safety interface.

The factory trigger can actually be turned into a nice trigger drilling and tapping for an overtravel screw, reducing the sear engagement and angle of rake, and putting in a lighter trigger spring.

I am trying to find a replacement stock for his. Boyds makes one in Thumbhole hunter class. The problem is you have to buy the bottom metal, which includes the magazine release. Now you are talking a couple of hundred, if you include a 20 MOA rail......

The experience you had with the blued one is what I have had with the silver one I've got. When you adjust it to where there is no creep its flat out unsafe. May see if midway will take it back and get a timney. Love my timney 517s in my R700s.

My Ruger 77/17 shoots as great as it looks! It really is extremely well finished, all I did was replace the trigger sear and spring with a Volq. kit. Took 15 minutes - well worth the $30.00 All in all a very fine rifle. Get one, you will be happy!

Take a quick look at clarks custom guns

They make some sweet 77/22&77/17. Walther barrels with several length options fluted deep flutes etc ,tactical bolt knobs, magazine extension, stocks, rings, extra mags, bedding , threaded barrels w caps, trigger jobs etc highly suggest buying one from them

i have one! stunningly accurate, even cut down to 17"! love the magazine system, as its flush fitting and still holds 9 rounds! handles like a much bigger calibre rifle!
