Through a series of trades I ended up with a Rem 7mm-08 for pretty much free. As I just finished a 6.5mm Creedmoor build, I'm not looking to do a really serious technical build. The issue with the 7MM is that the stock has been cut and repaired (i think to accommodate a smaller shooter) The barrel has also been cut down to about 18 inches. I personally am not a fan of those modifications. I'm considering a couple options. 1. Make into a hunting rifle, replace stock (I don't need a super precision stock, but a decent hunting stock), and change to a 24" barrel, maybe add a trigger and lower metal with magazine. 2. I have a plastic Remmington stock with rubber grips, and maybe keep the barrel the same or put a new barrel, keep trigger, and lower metal on it and sell it.
Which option would you guys recommend, what barrel, or hunting stock would you recommend? Another option is just to sell this as is for a project gun. I haven't looked into 7MM-08 a lot so I'm open to ideas.
Thanks!
