7mm creedmoor 24" loads

don't bother with the 4350 pretty sure you won't get enough in there to get the velocity you would be happy with,
and varget will put you at 2800 out of a 26'' tube. the powder that may work well is 8208xbr using that barrel length,
i seen the 8208 load work just as well as the varget but it was on the hot side to maintain the 2800 mark, kind of a toss up.
if i where in 22-24 range i would try varget first, and if it seems to slow cause you have more burning out of the barrel then in
give the 8208 a try. maybe Mark Gordon will chime in and comment on the subject (he's a little familiar with it:) )

2800 is an excellent velocity for that caliber, especially with the heavier 7mm bullets. PM mark and ask him about the powder. You might be able to use 4831 if I remember correctly, but varget should also work well; it usually does well with most short action calibers.

Thanks for the input, 2800 with 162gr out of a 26" barrel seems like a warm load but it is plausible given the 7mm-08 should be able to achieve the same and there is not much difference in the two with oal set at 2.800" (usable powder volume)
So the choice powder would seem to be varget and 8208 witch makes sense from what i have experience loading 7mm-08 hunting rifles.

Would like to hear some specific loads for the 7mm Creedmoor with shorter barrels.

Regards Sam.

I have extensively tested the 7mm GPC (nearly identical to SAC's 7mm Creedmoor) with barrels from 23" to 28" I have personally found H4350 to be the best performer overall with heavier bullets. Superformance and RE17 will give a significant edge in the velocity arena while Varget and 8208 give great accuracy but build too much pressure before reaching maximum velocity potential. If you want the best combination of accuracy, consistency, and velocity H4350 is the way to go. We have built a few 23" lighter weight hunting rifles, they have Krieger #5.5 contour barrels. The 4 groovers make about 2750FPS avg with 44.9 grns of H4350 and 168 vld's while the 5 groovers are a touch slower. This is using hornady 30TC brass necked down to 7mm and F210M primers with an OAL of 2.810+/- I have also done alot of load development with Lapua 308 Palma brass neck downed, resized, and fire-formed which i prefer but it is a lot more work. The load is compressed but with the proper neck tension very accurate.
