resurrecting this thread for the 7 PRC mag issue, since this cartridge is becoming VERY popular
I have a Defiance ANTIx in an XLR Element 4.0 magnesium chassis and I first ordered Hawkins precision magazines, long action 3.850 Magnum/28 Nosler/300 PRC. Mistake. No-go for 7PRC, rounds are too short and they nosedive bad.
Called XLR. They have Accurate magazines make steel ones for them and there are two they have for 7PRC, one for rem 700 one for Tikka. I got them a 3 and a 5-round. The spring in the 3-round is VERY tight, and it gouges the brass pretty bad. Also, the mag is pretty long for the 7PRC, and it had me thinking I should have gotten an industry standard medium action (Lone Peak medium). The round has almost .25" of space in these mags. Just doesn't look right but feeds OK w/o modification.
Today I received the MDT 3-round 7PRC specific magazines, and it's a PERFECT fit, spring not too tight, polymer so no gouging, and most importantly, less than 1/2 the weight of the accurate mags.
Kinda makes me wonder if I shouldn't have gone with the MDT chassis, but I was concerned about the fore-end and didn't want to take it apart for action swaps.
I also wonder about my long action choice, but I wanted versatility for future builds. Part of the reason I avoided titanium
Sorry for being tangential and going off topic a little
