I've seen several people say they are getting 2700 - 2800 + fps in these; not AI, just straight up 223 Rem. I've never gotten over 2550 fps in mine (about what Hodgdon says to expect).
What are your velocities and what powder/weight are you using to get them?
Thanks!

Holy smokes! That is a with a Wylde chamber?
I am building a 223 Rem match with at 24" barrel (barrel is on order - I'm 2 1/2 weeks into the 5 month wait). I am currently shooting 21" barrels with Wylde chambers. I have had 8 lbs of H4895 on order since late summer. Hope it shows up before the barrel.

While I do believe you both, any idea why Hodgdon's results are so radically different.
Hodgdon has a 90 gr Sierra HPBT, COAL at 2.34" with a max load of 22.5 (compressed), max pressure of 53K and velocity of 2527 fps using H4895 in a 24" barrel. What gives? Thanks again for the information.

Reloading manuals tend to be on the super safe side for a lot of different reasons.

Yes my current loads are shot in AR based straight pull bolt guns. I load them single feed at 2.5".
My new build will be on a SA platform so I should be able to magazine feed them at 2.5"ish. I got a MDT 223 mag on black friday.
Sounds like I just need to grow a pair and load them a bit hotter once my H4895 comes in. :giggle:

I was just a few thou shy of 2.5 as well. Also, my barrel tends to be a bit faster than what most others achieve. Don't know why, luck of the draw, I guess. Mine seems to run about 75-100 fps faster than same load in similar barrels of same length.

I know it’s not the 88gr but have loaded the 80grs at 3020fps in a standard 223 match chamber but lord was it hot and compressed load! It’s comfortable at 2840fps and lower as 2750 range starts to be compressed! Just trying to finish up development on it but looks like I should finish in the 2795-2815 range.

A buddy sold me 8 lbs of H4895 a couple weeks back (I've had it on order from my powder supplier for well over a year).
Just wanted to confirm some results. I took it up the 23.0 grs and averaged over 2750 fps with no significant pressure signs (mild cratering, mild/moderate flattening).
Settled on 22.5 grs which gave me 2700 fps and 1/2 moa groups. That's roughly 200 fps faster than my Varget loads. BTW, my OAL was 2.52": feeds great in my short action Savage with a 223 MDT mag.
Thanks for the help guys!
