9mm SBR Build

For some reason I got a stick up my butt to build a 9mm AR, no experience with them, so here is what I am thinking for it wanted to see what anyone thinks.

CMMG dedicated lower, registered
CMMG 9mm bolt
CMMG 9mm upper with larger deflector pre-installed
One of the following
-YHM 5.5" barrel
-BD 7" 9MM HBar Stainless Steel Pistol Barrel (I would probably cut this down to ~5" and re-thread)
YHM Wraith XL QD
One of the following
-Seekins suppressor ready rail midlength
-YHM customizable rail specter or mid

Probably throw a Jard trigger in it, have one on my other SBR and like it. And likely an EOtech on top.

Are the Metalform mags the only way to go for 9? Or are there any cheaper ones that work.

I've not run the metalform mags, I have run the C-products mags, and with a little work they have done very well in my rifle..

I believe the most reliable 9mm mag for the AR platform is still the Colt mag.. A bit pricey, but they run...

The metal form magazines have run with no issues in mine.

I'd stick with a Colt.

I've heard very good things about the cmmg, normally I try to stay away from them, but they seem to be the ones to go to for 9mm stuff. Have you had bad experience with the cmmg?

i personally don't have any experience with the parts you listed but i did build two 9mm AR's. one of my builds used CMMG's 9mm barrel, the other uses a TROS barrel. both are great barrels.

if you're going to get a dedicated lower, look into the DDLES lower as well. i love mine.

for mags, the C-Products work find, but the MetalForms work better. i have never had an issue with the MetalForms using my dedicated lower or a lower w/ a mag block. w/ the Spike's magblock i had, i have to adjust it to work w/ the CProducts mags.

a 9mm AR suppress is extremely fun to shoot, low recoil and extremely quiet.
