A&D FX-120i Scale Settings?

I know a bunch folks here are using the FX-120i scale. I am curious what setting other folks changed (from the defaults), to do their reloading. I would like to be able to use the settings that will allow me to measure while trickle loading.

There seems to be a trade off between speed and accuracy. I see that the response setting can be set from 0 to 2. I also see other settings like Cond, and Display rate, Stability Bandwidth, and Zero Tracking.

Obviously I want to change the default measurement to Grains. What other settings have you changed for your reloading?

Quite honestly, fast response and changed the Mode so that Grains and Grams are the only switchable options.

As for accuracy, maybe I'm just slow on the uptake lol, but I've discovered new barriers to stability and accuracy. Probably the most useful one to pass on is that these good digital scales are not just sensitive to breezes and breathing etc. The radiant heat from a 30W incandescent lamp a few feet behind me and over my shoulder will eventually change the temperature and stability of the air column above the scale - at least in my room. The scale is also sensitive to static electricity.

Now both issues are avoided by using bright but indirect lighting and grounding myself and the scale.

BTW, it's been a joy to use.

I am ok on the light positioning and breezes due to heat and A/C. Short of investing in a scuba mask, there isn't much I can do about breathing.

How did you ground the scale. Did you run a grounding wire from the back of the scale to the outlet wall plate?

I set mine to indicate in grains and started using it. Very happy with it.

Key to getting CONSISTENT RESULTS: keep the temp as close to the 72 degree mark as possible. NO AIR FLOW. Calibrate with PROVEN 50 gram weights. I changed mine from 100 grams to 50 grams to calibrate just to keep it as simple as possible. Get a surge protector with a "main power " receptacle. And once you get it level, DO NOT MOVE IT. I've also found that retaring the powder pan every 20 loads or so will keep it from any kind of jump.
I have 3 charge masters running with a omega powder trickler. I dump just under the desired weight and finish with the omega. Also use an independent powder pan for the FX. Works GREAT!!!

Aim, Did you leave the RESPONSE setting at medium, or did you change it to fast? I'll be running a similar set as you, only I have 1 Chargemaster.

I keep it at medium.

I assume the medium setting gives you fast enough response when you are trickling a kernel at a time, so I will start there.

Alligator clip to any of the small screws on the bottom or on the backplate . . . the outlet box screw will work fine if it's a metal outlet box and is in fact grounded lol.
