What would be required to use the A&D FX120i alone with a Dandy vibratory trickler until I can get the full V3 Auto trickler setup. Would I even be able to use the Dandy at all? It looks like I would need some kind of powder pan with a longer handle like the 419 powder pan but I'm not sure. I know a lot of you guys were using these type of scales before the Auto Trickler setup was on the market. I'm using the scale from the chargemaster (no dispenser) by itself right now and figured I'd buy the FX120i right now and upgrade with the V3 when I can

Nothing else is needed besides the scale and any powder pan will work.
Personally I would use a method where you throw a charge and count kernels from a pile rather than trickling. It's faster and easier IMO. I've done it with my FX120 before. Old thread here explains it in more detail. Link below:
I use it stand-alone with a Frankford Arsenal trickler. My process is to use a powder throw for large cases and a scoop for smaller, then hand trickle. I use the scoop to pull a few kernals if I over trickle.
Ok. Right now I have a Redding powder dispenser to throw a couple tenths under and use the Dandy to drop a kernel at a time. Pretty easy to just push the button on the Dandy controller to drop one piece at time. How does the trickler tube go through the wind shield? Can't really tell by the pictures.
Sheldon thats a pretty speedy method but you must have very good eyes because there would be no way I'd be able to count kernels without bending down to see and count them. I'd be double screwed trying to do that with XBR 8208. Now RL26 or Retumbo maybe, lol
Right now I'm using a beam scale to double check the digital scale so I can see if I'm off a couple of kernels. I really just want eliminate using two scales and be perfect with just the A&D.
My SD and ES are pretty good most of the time but it's to damn tedious and sometimes I get a round that is way off from the rest and it's really pissing my off.

if your using an A&D FX 120i you dont need to double check it...if your ESs and SDs are high...or getting an odd one or two now and then and your charges are the same weight on the FX its not your scale...remember 1 kernel of powder is on average about 1-2FPS.
Not using the A&D FX120i yet. Still using the RCBS scale. Trying to find out what I need to use the FX120.
I use a 419 pan because the longer handle makes it easier. I also use a thick piece of kaizen foam to sit the dandy on. I needed something to raise the trickler enough to clear the funnel I put the hole in the top and it might help absorb the vibration (if there is even enough to worry about). I also count kernels as they come out of the trickler.
gotcha...you just need the scale a pan and(optional)a dandy trickler....i ran this set up for for several years.
This is what I’ve been doing since May. I put my order in for the V3 in mid-September so I’m waiting on that now.
I just use an aluminum 1 Cup measuring cup as my powder pan and it works fantastic.
At the bottom of the funnel I did have to make a slight “bend” and then I put a piece of paper over the end....this slows the powder down before falling into the pan. If the powder just drops straight down through the funnel you’ll get quite a bit of splash out....but since I added the bend and the paper I very rarely get splash out
From the time I throw the main charge I usually have a charge within 15-20 seconds measured down to the kernel in Grams mode.
Also, in case you do not know...if you go to Autotrickler website...and find Adams links to scales...you can get the scale standalone for around $470 USD.

Yes, you need to buy a 100 gram calibration weight. Cambridge Environmental(one of the links listed for scale on Autotrickler website) has them...I’m sure DWS probably does too.
Yes my setup works pretty good, but my top “plate” that the powder thrower and trickler sit on..I should’ve gotten a thicker one. It’s a little flimsy for my liking but I also didn’t care enough to change it either. If I were doing it again or building one for a friend I’d definitely get a thicker plate. I can charge cases pretty fast....but I am looking forward to it being automated.
