I recently got my Nucleus action to build a 6mm CM but changed my mind, at least for now. I have always been a fan of bolt action pistols, XP100, and 300 Blackout so I decided to build a pistol in 300 Blackout. And because it is built as a "pistol" first I can go back and forth between pistol and rifle legally.

I still need to apply a finish to the barrel but it is done. I have test fired it and it is stable using a 265g bullet as well as 220g Makers. Using loads that chronograph at ~1,050 fps out of a 16" barrel gave me a little over 700 fps in this but I was able to use some Blue Dot, my current favorite powder for 300 Blackout, to load some 225 Hornady HPBT bullets to a little over 1,000 fps. It will only shoot subsonic loads. I haven't shot it for accuracy yet but it seemed to do well at 25 yards offhand. I have wanted to do something like this for a while now and the biggest motivator is I might be helping cull deer inside a subdivision.

I used an 8 twist Green Mountain 41V50 blank to create the 3.5" barrel. It is threaded 5/8-24 for a silencer and has an 11 degree crown as well. I chambered it using a Pacific Tool and Gauge reamer and set the headspace using a piece of brass I sized on my press (I won't shoot factory loads). I had to turn the barrel nut down so I could keep the barrel length as short as possible. I might make an even shorter barrel that doesn't use a rail. The rail is for a shotgun tube and was the easiest way to add a rail for a bipod.

It is sitting in a XLR Carbon chassis with the free float tube removed. It uses a Shockwave 2.0 adjustable pistol "brace" and tt will have a folder. I ordered a SB Tactical hinge but it was VERY wobbly so I returned it. I will probably buy an XLR hinge when they come back in stock.

It’s nothing I would be interested in. I also don’t see the benefit of going with an even shorter barrel as I think it is too short as is.

Now that’s out of the way, congrats on your project coming to light. You are handier at building than I am. It does have that look that only a proud papa could love. ?

Im thinking if it is used as a brace not shouldered, you hold the the grip with your right hand and manipulate the bolt with your left.
Never shot one so WTF do I know.

The brace can be used as a cheek weld. That little 300 blk won't recoil enough to really need to be shouldered, but the brace would make getting a consistent position behind the scope much easier than if your head is just floating in space.
