Few hunts actually capture perfectly every aspect of the hunt. This is one of those however that did, at least for the four lives involved.
It’s been 18 years that we have patiently waited to take my Father on a bull elk hunt. Age and health have pushed this hunt right to the limit for Dad, so it was no small chore to get him prepared and in place. Dad let his .264 Winchester do the walking he couldn’t.

Great article. I don't have a story to match that but still take my 77yr old dad deer hunting with me on just about every trip. He misses more than he hits but I savor every moment while they last.

I agree, don't waste a moment. In fact, take your Dad and your son/daughter with you. What a great opportunity to pass along a tradition.

Take your dad, your mom, brothers, sisters and your kids any time you can.

Hell, take the neighbor's kids too. I used to and it gave him a place to escape the stress from home.

My dad was my hunting partner. He was always ready and willing, even if he wasn't in good condition.
I lost him five years ago this month and would love to have one more hunt with him.

Never put off spending time with them, because they will be gone before you know it.

@TampaBud I hope you're feeling better today. That crud going around seems to be hitting everyone a little different. So far, I've been lucky.

Some of my best hunting trips haven’t been because of the size of animal harvested but the friends and family I was with. Congratulations. Nothing better then hunting with your pops.

Well done, I miss hunting with my dad. Embrace those moments.
I take every chance I get!

Agreed, I knew it would be very hard to get Dad on an exceptional bull unless he just walked in front of us. But I also knew that any good bull would make this the hunt we wanted it to be, a good time, together, doing what we love.

Had Mom and Dad over for dinner yesterday, and made some ribs from Dad's bull. A delicacy that won't be soon forgotten.
