I realize the idea of a quiet compensator or muzzle brake is a ridiculous request, what I want to know from those who might know is, is there perhaps a less obnoxious, less concussive, muzzle brake out there? My main concern is for those next to me. I was next to a surefire brake the other day on a 223/556 and it was, well, loud as hell. More so than my braked 308 whom was one bench further from the surefire and right next to me. Which brings me here.. Id like to have a comp/brake for my ar just without the cost of annoying the folks next to me anymore than... necessary I guess. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

The Battle Comp BABC that I had on my LR308 wasn't real bad. I have a JP Bennie Cooley on it now and that one is LOUD but very effective at recoil control and decent at muzzle control.
I've been after something similar as well. These are the options I'm looking at:

To Hell with the person next to you, I love nothing better than to make a huge BLAST and scare the people around me. LOL just kidding, do not get a JP recoil eliminator it does a great job keeping the muzzle from rising but oh boy is it LOUD.
If you like the idea of a BattleComp, take a look at the reviews for the Spike's DynaComp. I have one on my 16" and it works well and isn't as obnoxious as the full size options.
I replaced the stock flash hider on my little carbine with a Noveske KX3 a couple of weeks ago.
I took it up to the range for a test drive last weekend. I really do think it was quieter - for me. I don't know if anybody else could tell it was any better. The forward blast redirect was more obvious. It's kind of big but I dig the fire breathing pig.

Easy solution...S-U-P-P-R-E-S-S-O-R!!!! Seriously, you live in TX (an NFA-friendly state) and you have no excuses NOT to obtain one and use it if you are really that concerned with the comfort level of shooters around you (not to mention your own comfort). However, suppressors tend to have the exact opposite effect of muzzle brakes inasmuch as instead of driving people away to other benches or further down the line to leave you the hell alone, suppressors tend to invite numerous functionally retarded mouth-breathers to gather 'round to observe and then bug the crap out of you. 
There is no such animal as a "less rude" brake. Some of the linear brakes like the Levang style which direct the blast forward/downrange are somewhat less "loud" or otherwise redirect the muzzle blast away from other shooters on the line to reduce the concussion/noise that get redirected back at an angle to others, but they still increase noise a fair amount. Same with the PRI/MSTN QC brakes which are advertised as "Quiet Control" but are still loud in comparison with a plain muzzle, but better than others on the market. It is the nature of the beast for muzzle brakes/compensators to be loud.

A suppressor would be pretty nice I admit, but damn their expensive and what's worse, I have to throw the $ down and MIGHT see it at the earliest 3 months away.. A few guys I've talked to are a full year+ into the wait for their stamps... Not sure I have that kinda patience

I have been searching for the same thing for a while but everyone seems out of stock of the Noveske KX3, PWS CQB and Troy Claymore. Midway just got these back in stock so I ordered one, at that price if I don't like it I won't mind too much.

People don't complain about my SCAR (PWS), and my ACR has a AAC brake, neither of those make people say anything. But my SureFire on my Bravo AR sometimes does, I think it is the most effective too. Not like the others are awful or anything, just that Surefire brake with DI is nuts. Can't go wrong with a Surefire/PWS/AAC brake, if you're going CANdyland later, I'd suggest the AAC as they are doing so much for the suppressor use in the USA. And gotta respect a guy who wears Argyle Sweater Vests.
I have just started using the seekins brake on my ar. Very impressed blast seems less than many but very effective. Muzzle doesn't move in rapid fire.
I have found both the Battle Comps (1.0 and 1.5) and BCM Comps (Mod 0 and Mod 1) to be about as friendly as you will find.
Another comp that has gotten very good reviews has been the Prototactical Z-Comp. I have not used one personally, however.
