Hunting & Fishing A little mountain goat eye candy

Re: A little mountain goat eye candy

At 55 yards, downhill, I got a double-lung pass-through. Goat went 50 yards.
Here's one of my Shuttle-T's next to the entrance wound. Cape is inside-out, of course.

Congrats! Beautiful country. Thanks for taking the time to share. That Shuttle definitely did the job from the looks of that hole.

Re: A little mountain goat eye candy

Did you hike up from the salt or did you have a super cub drop you off?

Is that tarp all you had for a shelter? Weather must have been forgiving during your hunt.

I went with Ed Toribio back in 2006. That was one of the toughest hunts I have ever been on.

Nice job. I wouldn't mind doing that hunt again.

Post up some more scenery pics if you got 'em.

Re: A little mountain goat eye candy

6-day hunt. That shelter will endure everything a tent will if staked out right and weighted, but I didn't have horrible weather, that's for sure. First three days windy, some rain and lots of fog. Next three were 50/50. On the day I shot him I didn't get away from camp until 2:30 due to fog (basically, you're in the clouds).

It's my 4th goat, and second with a bow. Bow definitely makes you hunt.

All I'll say is that I was above Juneau. I don't disclose particulars because it's a spot that I got a P&Y goat out of in '10.

Horn length? Your first picture does not give a good reference of their length.

Broadheads in general are devastating on flesh.

I am not a fan of cliff antelope meat. Yuck!

Dont disclose particulars of your hunt AO, a true Alaskan!!!!

50 yards, a bow will make you hunt, true words. Its funny how those hunters who think tipping over an animal at 500 plus with a high dollar pop gun and super optics is hunting.

Nothing like a solo hunt in the Alaska hills. For those who have never been fortunate, it cannot be described or understood what its like.

Nice billy and congrats.

Re: A little mountain goat eye candy

That is amazing. I'd retire there in a heartbeat
but my wife is a beach girl. I just have to settle
for what I have here. Congrats on a super trophy. That's a very difficult hunt.

Re: A little mountain goat eye candy

Fobs!!! Sweet, I've been using them exclusively for years now. Not many people know about them. I would have never guessed Shuttles. I just never gave them a look.

Great goat....fantastic looking hunt! I just wish I had better legs. RG
