I think there is a lot of pent up aggression for multiple reasons but most notably this entire COVID thing.

Lots of road rage. I live in a reasonably rural New England town. Even on two lane Route type roads (RI - Rt 24), people are turning into assholes.

I drive a Taco wife drives a BMW X5. That BMW is no Porsche but it is bad ass. Paddle shifters sport mode and it corners like it has cleats on the tires. Will it do any better at it's main job (transportation) than a 25k mini. No, but is is much more fun and comfy to drive. You can tell where the extra money went. Built and engineered well, so if you have the extra money it is worth that money. Those Germans know how to build stuff.

South Florida takes the crown for bad drivers. Old people galore and during the winter we get every bad driver from everywhere. Oh shit I just realized I am an old people.

I work in aviation, but I have several truck drivers in my family.

I am guessing you have never driven or even ridden in a semi?

You are the very reason they have to resort to "cutting you off". You think that you own the road, but you should back off and show these drivers a little respect, because not one fucking thing gets into your possession without riding in the back of a truck.

I haul ass every where I go, but the #1 group, after first responders and military, that get a pass and a little more consideration from me, is the trucking industry.

They are forced to follow asinine regulations, they can't stop and walk in somewhere and eat because of the Wu Flu, they can't walk up to a drive thru and order something, they are forced to sleep where ever it is they run out of hours, they have to constantly watch out for asshats that think they can stop as soon or as quickly as anyone else, they spend days and weeks away from their family, they are constantly monitoring the landscape in front and on both sides of their truck and then they get no appreciation for the work they do, but they continue to do it because they love their jobs.

So the next time you order a gun doohickey, or ammo, or fuel, or basic necessities, you stop and think about how it got from point A to your grubby unappreciative mitts, then give them a f'n pass.

Funny story from years ago. Was in Tampa and was wanting a new car. Narrowed it down to a Porsche Cayman as I loved the mid engine layout or the new Jaguar at the time that came stock with a supercharger and all sorts of shit.

Went to the Porsche dealership and got handed off to the most timid salesman I had ever encountered in my life. Was already looking forward to 'negotiating' with him as it was just going to be hilarious; or I was about to have the world's longest game of 'let me talk to the sales manager'.

After looking around a while and talking cars, I told him I'd like to drive the Cayman. He says sure and disappears for a while.

I'm waiting and waiting for this car to roll up at the front doors. I keep seeing other shit drive past, but no Cayman. There's this Cayenne sitting there for a while with its engine running, but its a Porsche dealership so I dont think twice about it. After a few minutes the guy gets out of the Cayenne and walks towards the enterance where I'm standing and he seems to be slightly annoyed.

Walks in and says hi, I've been waiting for you to go on a drive. And in the middle of the dealership my initial response for some random reason was - Do I look like a bitch? I want to drive the CAYMAN.

So in my neck of the woods in north western Kansas. The dumbassery on the roads has quadrupled. Just today driving down the highway I was flipped of three separate times. All while I had the cruise set at 68mph. Our little 28 mile highway that is the shortcut between Denver and Omaha is loaded with out of state drivers that haul ass and have no recognition of curves or hills while passing. Our shop is on a curve. And remind you this highway has no shoulder and yet daily I hear air horns of semi drivers about to have a head on with a car that decided to pass on a blind curve. We are talking everything from small cars pulling trailers to suv and pickups pulling 100k campers.
Where did all the dumbasses come from? It’s never been this bad.

Come to the People’s Republic of Commifornia..... there isnt a day where Im not cussing like a sailor who’s shore leave was cancelled.

I can lay back one car length and before I get alongside the driver door of that tractor trailer I am doing 88, by the nose 100MPH

Drove across the country this month from Denver to TN, the scenic route, at 90 I got 24MPG, which is pretty sweet, at 75MPH I am getting 28MPG, so 68 is in my way and ruining my mileage. My ACC hates you ...

Few weeks ago I am on a two lane interstate when a state trooper gets behind me and lights them up. I pull to the right lane and he goes around me and gets behind a rig with a short trailer. I am not sure whether the trooper wanted to stop him or wanted the rig to move over to the right lane so he could get around him.

The rig just keeps on going at 65mph with the trooper with cherries flashing on his ass. After about a mile the trooper moves half into to the left median in a attempt to get the drivers attention. No dice the trucker just keeps on trucking with the trooper in pursuit.

This goes on for around 10 miles with the trooper switching between the left median and the right lane trying to get this guy to stop. Me and the wife have front row seats and we are like WTF, the driver of the rig seemed oblivious to what was going on.

Finally the trooper gets in front of the rig and hits the brakes forcing the rig to apply his brakes and pull over. As I slowly drive by the trooper explodes out of his car cursing spitting mad walking back to the rig. Would of loved to hear that conversation.

I’m not really awake, but I need to get there. I put the car in self drive mode, and head to NoVA.

I’m on the highway, car set to drive at 75MPH (the is literally no one in the road as its the begining of the COVID lock down), and all of a sudden a car cuts across three lanes of traffic, no blinker, and cuts my ass off.

Car is alarming like an aircraft... I’m expecting to hear “collision...collision....collision... [thats another story]...” Anyway, the car slows down, an I think “What a jackass!”

However, my exit is next, so I put my blinker on and get over.

Car immediately gets behind me and the lights go on. Its an unmarked cop car.

The officer come running over the the car, hand on holster, and says “ You came up on me really fast!”

I blink and say “You cut across three lanes of traffic, no blinker, almost hit me, and I WAS the problem?”

His demenor somewhat changes, which is probably cop body language doe “Oh crap.” ...and then he says “I clocked you doing 73.”

I said “Ok, I’m on my way to a Federal installation for an emergency.” Officer “We’re not allowed to give breaks here, but since you’re from Maryland it doesnt matter.”

“Ok, give me my ticket so I can get going.”

I’d like to see proof of these crazy mpg numbers. I’ve never seen anyone actually back them up with the trip meter more than a a few dozen miles. Couple hundred on the trip odo or it doesn’t count.

I'm a member of the 700 mile club with my truck. That's 700+ miles on one tank (32 gallons). Officially, it was 718 miles on 30.5 gallons. Going from So. Cal to Texas.

I guess I'll just take my lowly "poor" coupe and go drive by myself. LOL! It has no where near the performance as Frank's Porche, but I can certainly relate to it being a car that is worn, not sat it (especially at 6'2"). Being able to zip around slow vehicles is definitely a good thing...

There's something about driving a car that is designed for...driving. Not grocery getting, not hauling lumber, not getting from point A to point B...but to drive, for the sheer joy of driving. I'm more about handling than speed.

My daily driver is a Land Rover Discovery Sport. She gets the job done, but when I want to play, "Betty" gets pulled out of the garage and the winding, twisty canyon roads get some attention. Nothing quite so funny as watching a BMW 3 Series M3 try to keep up in the curves, and finally give up, smiling and waving (they're just too heavy in some of those turns). Never mind that there are less than 7500 of these in the US. It's fun going through an intersection turn, and seeing people's head track, fingers point and their mouths moving saying "What the fuck is that?" (even 9 years after she was built, and 5 years after they discontinued the model).

On the highway here, if you're in the left lane and not driving at LEAST 80, you're pissing people off. I typically am around 80-83mph on the highway, and I have to move over constantly for people passing at easily 90-100mph. Shrug...life has gotten faster.

And yes, truckers should be fucking shot for passing each other on a two or one lane road. All too often I see those fuckers, attempting to pass UP HILL, with a governor...and 12 cars stacked up behind them. fucking douche nozzles....

It’s usually the dealerships that get you, not the company. I think that’s why they all allow at least one or two dealerships to sell parts online at OEM MSRP; it keeps the dealerships honest. I’ve had it happen with both BMW and Landrover/Jaguar, where they jacked up prices 8 times what the MSRP was. When I handed over a print out, and asked why they charged that much mark up, they did the “Oh, I’m sorry, I misunderstood you, that was also including x, y and z. No, that is the correct price.” Uh, yeah.

Caveat emptor. Do your homework and don’t get taken...
