Rifle Scopes a question about rectiles

i am thinking about buying nightforce nxs f1, this will be my first high end scope.

also i am learning how to use mil-dots and long range shooting, i am thinking about lv 5 rectile, should i get mil dot instead?

The LV 5 reticle is a bullet drop compensating reticle, any minor change in velocity, load, or any atmospheric condition will change the BDC. The MLR reticle is better than the standard mil dot reticle for most. I would stay away from any BDC reticle for precision shooting.

Kirk is right. If you wish to learn using a mil based system, a BDC style reticle is not a good place to start. Reticles like the MLR and others, which are mil based, would be a better place to start.
