Top image is a Remington 700 AAC-SD in an AICS with an AAC 260 barrel. The barrels are nitrided and threaded 5/8-24 with a thread-protector.

The bottom is an AI AWP with an AI 260 barrel threaded 3/4-24.

rsilvers - By "long chambered", are you just referring to the way they're set up to head-space by grinding the recoil lug? How long is the throat on these? Are you able to get anywhere near the lands and still maintain a short enough COAL to load into the box mag? Hoping they don't have loooong throats like it seems most Remington factory barrels do...

Does anyone have any hands-on experience or feedback on these barrels? Really thinking hard about screwing one onto my LTR.

Re: AAC 260 barrel in AICS

Remington's 260 throat is not particularly long. That being said, this is not a Remingon 260 chamber and it is not too long in the throat.

By long chambered I mean that you may have to grind the recoil lug to headspace it. The typical amount of grinding required is a few thousandths - we are not talking about a lot because we had the Remington drawings and so could time it perfectly.

That sounds promising. Any chance of posting the dimensions of the reamer used just so we could quantify "not too long". I'll probably pull the trigger on one at this point anyway, but I would guess getting rid of any uncertainty for others would only help sales...

Re: AAC 260 barrel in AICS

That is my goal, or at least have the option. Just to confirm, you're saying you can load to touch the lands and stay within mag length? If that's the case then I'm well sold.

Re: AAC 260 barrel in AICS

If you load a Sierra 142 or Lapua 139, they won't touch the lands if loaded to SAAMI OAL. But yes, if you want to load beyond SAAMI length (but less than full mag length), you can touch the lands. Pressure goes up when you touch lands though.

Just placed my order through Midway. Thanks for the info...
