Has anyone put AAC's 7.62sd on a DTA SRS? When I went to put the break/adapter on my 308 conversion it bottomed out against the barrel shoulder after 1.25 rounds with the ports on the break at 6&12. So when I use the proper spacer to index it right, my adapter ends up being held on by one thread. I called AAC and a rep told me that with the rockset they provide it should be fine. Personally I'm not comfortable with this. They only sell one adapter with the thread size/pitch that the dta barrel takes (3/4-24)... I'm considering grinding the base of the adapter down to give me a few more threads. What do y'all think? Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

I would take it to a gun smith and have'em shave off some material on the barrel and possibly time your adapter with the barrel...

I'm pretty sure it was a bitch to get that AAC adapter... hate to hear it get messed up...

Sorry I wasn't much help... Hope it all works out for you.

Depending on what barrel and chassis length you have if you grind too much off the back of the adapter you might cause clearance issues with the can and the rail.

I have a covert with 16" barrel but I'm using a Delta P adapter and standard Blackout flashhider.

Have you had any issues with that setup? I just ordered a delta p adapter and ill be using a standard flash hider instead of a break.

Re: aac 7.62sd on a dta srs

Thanks Newguy2k3! Ill have to do some more research on the Delta P adapter. It looks like they have an adapter that will fix my problem. Ill just have to trade my 3/4" break in for a 5/8.

Re: aac 7.62sd on a dta srs

how big a spacer did you use ?
if youre using only a shim and getting 1 thread how many were you getting with no shims ?

I have a 762SD & 762SDN6 on my SRS with no issues.... I didnt use any shims but just tightened the shit out the brake and it lined up perfectly.

can you post a pic of your brake mounted ?

Like Newguy I have the Delta P adapter with standard flash hider for my SRS. No issues with this setup.

Kansashillbilly, please consider changing your user name, just hate to perpetuate the sterotype of backwoods knuckle draggers here in our fine state. If you can afford a DTA and a can then you aren't a hillbilly. (humor), don't want any hurt feelings.

Only if you have more than 10 junk cars in the front yard.

A little late but no issues for me. Accuracy has been fine after I fitted the adapter to my can but I still wish I didn't need the adapter. It just seems like one more thing that could go wrong.

This setup should only go until June or so though. I got suckered in by the TBAC group buy and 10% discount and have a 338P-1 coming now.
