Re: AAC-SD range report

I dropped my AAC in a Bell & Carlson Medalist Tactical stock & saw my groups tighten up. Those are great groups for that distance! Can't argue with that!

Re: AAC-SD range report

We use those for test rifles. We drop them in McMillan stocks. They shoot great, our groups also tightened up in half after the stock change.

Re: AAC-SD range report

I was blown away at how good it shoots especially with a $300 scope and that was my first try's at grouping.

I can't imagine how good it'll be with a stock and a Jewell trigger!!

Will do thanks

Re: AAC-SD range report

good shooting, looks like you have a good recipe with that one set up. i also just picked up the same rifle, and also a $300 scope. ill be doing some shooting this weekend with some xm80c ammo so i wouldnt expect as good of groups as you shot but the rifle is certaily capable with the right ammo. what scope is that?

It's a konus I love it
I only have $1000 in the whole setup

Here's my set up

Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD 308
Konus M30 8.5x32x52
Weaver 6 hole tactical rings
EGW 20 MOA Rail
Caldwell pivot bipod

Re: AAC-SD range report

thats pretty good, i didnt look into the konus line of scopes, but i went out on a limb with a nikko stirling targetmaster 5-20x50. what height rings did you go with? i went with the same rings as you (low) with a weaver 20moa base (should be at my house when i get home today.

Install a break, Timney trigger and drop it into a nice stock and you'll cut those groups down even smaller. </div></div>

Thanks!!

Suppressor is purchased waiting on form 4

Jewell trigger hopefully in the next couple weeks

Stock will probably be my next Christmas present from me
Either a B&C A5 or a Mcmillin whatever I can afford

Take a look at the Manners stocks with the Mini-Chasis. It will let you skip the bedding issue. I dropped mine into a T5A with the chasis and couldnt be happier.

Yeah I dream about the T4A every night lol

How does the mini chassis work? does the stock have to be made to work with it or can you just swap it in later?

hey buddy thanks for the info on this, one question what was your coal? also was it the 20" 1:10 bbl on your aac for the 2500fps

Re: AAC-SD range report

Hey another load to try would be with the 167 Lapua Scenars, the AAC-SD was my first bolt gun for paper punching, I dont remember specifically the load but I know I was shooting a 1/2 moa with 167 LS, varget or XBR, Lapua brass, FGMM primers, ill do a little digging to see what I can come up with. I took 4th in my first competition (out of 12 people in a factory class), using the 178 AMAX with varget with the AAC-SD.

This is my go to load for both ringing steel and putting deer to sleep. 43.5 Varget in Win brass with 178 Amax loaded to 2.850 (AICS mags) and 210M primers. Shoots lights out through my AAC-SD

Re: AAC-SD range report

im shooting the same stick with a nikon 6-18 on top. swapped over the the b&c medalist also. @100 its half moa or better using 168's until i goob it up drastically. While you're waiting on your can, check out one of the ratt worx fat bastard brakes. Works really good and annoys the hell out of everyone close to you. Best 5 shotter so far (1500 rounds or so through barrel)was .14. Was a moment of glory. The rest of the day was in teh .4 to .5 range so it isnt normal, but damn it felt good. I had to send a tell shot after 3rd round to a fresh target lol. I thought i broke my scope and was hitting somewhere completely off target because i had never seen a hole so tight. Then when i rebuilt for 4 and 5 it opened up to the little bitty group that i could actually see.

Re: AAC-SD range report

Looking at your 41gr 178 amax group. That looks promising.
My 2 comments,
1. Maybe your charge weight was not consistent, but you are near an accuracy node.
2. You were vertically stringing due to breath control, and your trigger work was right on.

IMO. Check that out or work up to the next node.

I done a lot more testing since this I did the ladder test and the ocw test
My node is between 43-44 I haven't had time to get closer than that
It should be around 43.5

I hear ya I need work to speed up so I can buy more supplies!!
I'm tired of staring at this rifle wishing I had money to buy bullets with lol

Have you ever done the ocw test?

Re: AAC-SD range report

I have done more ocw than I care to. I was big on 6.8 when it came out. I've tested many .270 projectiles (110vmax, 110tsx, 90tnt, 115smk, 130pro hunter or was it 110) all of which I found the accuracy load for my 20" and 16", I only played with 110vmax for my 10.5 since it was a self defense load. I did work up a hunting load for my 270wsm since I had all the projectiles laying around for deer hunting in nc. I did a little work on my 264lbc before selling the upper to a friend who wanted to do that match that recently happened in Utah I think. I also played with 284 in a short action before dropping that action off at GA to be a 6.5 creedmoor.
Is you have the time, like when I was on 6.8. I was fresh back from a deployment and the wife was deployed. I reloaded like 10 hours a week and shot all weekend, then working up a ocw load is fine. But now with the baby and going to school I'm going to something that I can buy ammo for and reload easily if I have time,(6.5 creedmoor)
