Hopefully that doesn't disqualify all that fit that same profile. My posting history here would be similar because I am not qualified to offer any input on the precision shooting this site caters to. I only own and shoot COMBLOCK variants of the AK-47 and VZ-58, along with a couple shotguns, and only iron-sight at most 100 yards. I have no skill or experience shooting the precision tools used by you guys at all; I once participated in zeroing a buddy's new scope once, but not sure I really helped as I'm sure it was just my buddy "letting me play too."

Mostly, I found this place because I'm fascinated by the skillset and hardware you guys use, look at a little gear porn and the distances some of you can achieve accuracy is mind-blowing, so it's cool to browse and check out. The Pit seemed the only appropriate place for me to actually post anything.

Anyway, back to topic, while the election process is clearly compromised in many states, I think we can't discount that there is still a significant portion of the population that is just plain dumb and votes accordingly. My mother is one of them.

My mother is 70+ and watches "news." In a recent conversation she was commenting the Herschel Walker, "can't string together a coherent sentence," and is clearly unqualified for government. OK I replied, then the same could be said for Biden or Fetterman in PA, right? Oh no, that's different, because there is "nothing wrong" with Herschel, but Fetterman suffered a stroke and Biden is old. So the mental gymnastic rationalization is that it's OK to govern if your mental incapacitation has a proper "reason" like a stroke or dementia...then it is OK for you to govern, and in fact it's wrong to disqualify you from the position because that would be discriminatory and mean to hold it against you.

This makes no sense, but it does correlate to what the media has been harping on over the last few weeks and my mom is a frequent consumer of that message. Fortunately, after much back and forth, she finally just exclaimed that she won't bother to vote at all anymore....so I'll call that a win.

Unfortunately, I live in Oregon and there are still far too many just like my mother...today it looks like OR is on the verge of implementing gun restrictions requiring permits and training for new purchases, and a 10 round mag cap with Bill 114. I hate Washington county and Multnomah county imbeciles; they ruin this state.

Exactly. By staying there he is setting himself up to become a victim. I was in the exact same position he is in now, back in Illinois in 1991. I was sick and tired of never having my vote count for anything. I was tired of the non stop, endless attacks on my Second Amendment rights.

Not to mention having to beg the state for a Firearms Owners I.D. Card. Just so I could legally own a firearm. Then have to put up with magazine capacity limits, and a ton of other freedom suppressing shit.... So I left and moved to Arizona.

It was the most difficult decision I ever had to make in my entire life. We moved here not knowing anyone. No friends, no family, and most importantly, no job. But we did it anyway. And now we have both enjoyed 31 years in one of the most gun friendly states in the country.

We have 3 beautiful gun clubs within a hour of our home. Beautiful weather, and to top it all off, I live in one of the most red counties, (Mohave), in the entire country. And I was fortunately able to retire at 62, almost 8 years ago. Since then my guns have gotten more use than they ever have in Illinois.

You have to do for yourself when your vote no longer counts. You can't wait and hope. All hope for New York was dashed last night. Their own voters did it to themselves...... Just like they all did in Illinois.

If anyone stays in New York from now on, they risk doing it at their own peril. And by telling me to go fuck myself, isn't going to improve his position one bit.

The smartest thing I ever did in my entire life was move to Arizona. The dumbest thing I ever did was wait until I was 38 years old to do it.

I'm like you. Only I shoot a lot of Trap and Sporting clays. But I do own several self defense shotguns. I like shooting handguns, but nothing competition wise. I just don't like to be regimented anymore. (That tends to happen after you retire).

While I own dozens of rifles, up to and including a .50 BMG, I don't possess the super high priced optics many here do. But I like reading and hearing from those who do. I love AK's and AR's as well, and own several. And if that doesn't "qualify me" to be here, I really don't give a shit.

I took the north view because that's the direction of the closest neighbor who is not one of my brothers. I own everything I can see from my house. However, whilst I agree that I think Trump may be a liability to candidates and Republican party (not conservatism per-se), these are gamed elections now. Any state that has cleaned up their voting registry (like FL and I believe AL) had winners pretty much immediately. In AL the only representative that went blue is a district that will NEVER go red, never. That there is even a GOP or LIB candidate is what is shocking. These results don't even make sense. 70% of exit polls saying people are PISSED at the State of the Union and yet, vote to continue it.

It's also a prime example of why if a person does not pay taxes (save for some exceptions) they should not be allowed to vote. In other words...how many companies allow votes from people who are not stock holders? Answer: NONE!!

Yes, money was pushed to Stacey. I suspect that's not likely to continue in bulk. Without Stacey, that money would still have been pushed, just in another direction. I believe that after everything, she did the GOP a favor.

When mistakes are made, an opportunity for learning is presented. As a Scouting leader, part of my job was to ensure that plenty of room for error was present; for by such means are true leaders forged.

They either learn or are counseled to choose another direction. Real losers don't choose, and I offer Beto as clear proof.

Scouting leaders are trained to provide the requisite opportunities in contexts where those errors do not result in serious damage. It is the ability to make reliable decisions that denotes a reliable leader. The approach of scouting is to conserve that skill to grow within a context where errors are accepted, but negative consequences are also kept as small as possible in the process.

Pity the poor private whose leader has to make his first real decision in a live or die context. It was just such an experience which prompted me to return to Scouting as an adult after my tour in Vietnam as a US Marine. Don't ask me how I accidentally participated in a small invasion of N. Vietnam in 1967.

Whether Trump learns from what may or may not have been an error is a good question; but that ball is still in play.
