I have the NXS 8-32x56 and on the variable twist piece, there are the incriments for magnification, but there is an R in there. What does that mean??

the r is the settimg you must use to range.using the reticle on your scope.

The R is for ranging and also the setting for your other reticle calculations. If you are going to be using the reticle marks(moa or mil) for your drops instead of clicking, then you would want to have the maginification set on the R for the marks to work out.
