Directly in front of the recess: .310"That’s a cool looking projectile! What’s the diameter of the portion behind the recessed part and in front of it?
In recess, at front of recess: .302"

That’s the plan. Run up till it ruptures and work the load backwards.Good luck with the project! I tried something similar 40+ years ago. Biggest problem was blowing the rim when max pressures were exceeded.
Be forewarned, if the rifle has a detachable mag be careful about what's under it. Shrapnel sucks!!
Kinda looks like a Lapua D166 with the rebated boat tail.Your custom bullet looks a bit like the one in the attached pic. This one came out of a .303 Brit loaded in 1950.
Your project is really interesting. Hope you will keep us posted on the progress!
Hi Geno, any other updates? Very interested to see where this project goes...Having the barre setup for my quad now since I had problems. Still going to do more work with titewad but Winchester aa lite is also on my list
To some extent it did, I believe it's called the 6.5 Creedmoor now.Sounds like that really caught on.
I know there is a wide range of type of 22LR competition (and governing bodies). Most are not "rimfire", but actually specify "22LR" (I think) with I assume the definition being used is the SAAMI definition of 22LR. I believe the SAAMI spec includes an OAL of around 1" +/-. The OAL of this solution looks to be much longer, so might the argument be that this is not 22LR? Also, I can imagine that some 22LR competition hinges upon the idea of "cheap and readily available" ammo. Plus to remove the need to handload. I can imagine that if something like this becomes viable, that some (maybe not all) organizations would adjust rules to prevent it.I’ve never seen any rule that says it has to be factory loaded ammo, so I think it will be legal
Blow a case before it’s full. How can you tell the pressure spike is to early or to sharp?
thanks
Took 3 charges out to get some speed numbers and a more solid zero. The results are promising. It proved my mullets are working like they should. I’ll keep working at it as time and weather permitsView attachment 7490231View attachment 7490232View attachment 7490234View attachment 7490235
They really are quite different when you put them side by sideView attachment 7492261

You can see angle of impact!!!So the same load that was showing good sd earlier in the week is stable. It did even better today. View attachment 7492679Got up to 1162 today lil gun. Ran out of case capacity. Got some fun recoveries off the 100 yard platView attachment 7492680View attachment 7492682
Yeah, the plate was angled down though. I did that to try and recover some of them. It’s not coming in nearly as steep at 100 as these would suggestYou can see angle of impact!!!
Got a max speed of 1289 this morning. Think that’s about all it’s going to get with this combo.
