Rifle Scopes Accupower 2.5-10x56 or 4-16x50?????????????????

Anyone have either of these?
Glass quality? Does it track reliably and return to zero? Does it track w precision?
Not planning on dialing anything (because i know its not going to track and rtz perfect at this price) just using the MOA reticle to hold 400 to 800yards since its going on my short range rifle but of course shoot all rifles ELR, so it will be dialed the max and using all the reticle as well occasionally. Id rather have a FFP so I don't have to be stuck at 16x all the time or split it hope the ring is calibrated at 8x and double the reticle so the 10x and 56obj is very appealing plus its cheaper.

Im thinking since i can't see any of these in person, all things being equal id imagine the 10x will looks crisper than the 16x even when both on the same power and the 56obj to be brighter in all conditions.


other option is over spend and get the NF SVH 4-14x50 F1 moa but again, its a short range precision setup and I don't need a lot of mag, id rather spend the money towards another precision project gun or top range optic for the big boy elr setup.

Thoughts?


BTW, theres no reviews on either optic anywhere. I saw the two crappy youtube vids and the "part 1" review which isn't a review at all...

2.5-10x56mm, Second focal plane scope, with only 60 MOA of total adjustment would leave me with hives at $650.

How about a 2.5-10x44mm FFP scope, Illuminated, zero stop and 90 MOA of total adjustment for $750.

You are on a budget (within good scope territory though), you want something with a top end around 10x-15x, want a MOA reticle for holding, don't plan on dialing, and obviously durability and overall build quality would be your top priority.

The Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 would be just about perfect. Yes, it's got a SFP reticle, but FFP really isn't bringing much to the table in that power range anyway. If you are using your reticle for a wind or elevation hold, chances are you are going to be dialed up to 10X anyway. At lower magnifications (typically closer ranges), a FFP reticle is tough to make out and the subtensions are pretty much useless. Its got probably the best MOA based reticle out there and also tracks like a Nightforce if you decide to take off the caps and dial your elevtion.

I was looking for a new hunting optic a while back and did a good bit of reading and trial and error. I don't there is a better value out there for a 3-10 range scope than the NF SHV.

***there are no returns for the deals I have on these 3 optics so its not like I'm going to optics planet and buy all three and return two which I have done in the past.

I don't think the 42mm SHV will be bright enough compared to the 56mm or the 50

I forgot to mention that the two Accupowers in question are $540/$675 respectively and the SHV is a jump to $1100
I have never owned a trijicon product but have read beyond all else they are reliable, hold zero. I have not owned a burris product but the 34mm tube is a turn off as I have like 500$ worth of top end 30mm rings lying around. The rifle this is going on like I said is for short work and just using the reticle I'm good to 1000yards +20min rail before I use any of the elevation.


Having foolishly spent LITERALLY 20+ legitimate hours on this over the past 4days coupled with other gear.... my free time is worth more than the difference in any optic but now I, like all of us here, are stubborn mothers and I just wanted to hear some positive things or NEGATIVE things just hear something about these two since there are zero reviews on the accupowers.

The SHV I referenced I got for a good price, much less than $900. The 56mm objective on a 10X scope isn't going to be significantly better than a 42mm. You really don't gain that much light transmission and it usually requires taller rings.

Id be willing to bet the 42mm will be plenty bright for your needs. Call Euro Optic and let them give you a price also. You will be pleased.

Alright I was a little harsh here previously..... k think NF has pretty bad QC at least for the SHV line. The one I looked at 50miles from here the other day was "average" in every sense of the word and average w no real flaws is a win for the price imo, I'd of been happy with it, honest. the one last night was worse than other random comparisons test on the spot which was the store clerks rec to look thru 2 nikons... The glass was infact clean not covered in 3in of dust as well.
and not terriable in the sense of terrible but wow, looked like a 500$ tube, no lie

The Shv line is good to go. Have yet your see anything bad about them. I have both the shv f1 and the 10x shv. I'd buy that over the Accupower.

You mentioned that you'll use this scope primarily for 400 - 800 as well as ELR. Why not pick up a TRIJICON 5 - 20? It'll still be usable at shorter ranges & will do nicely at longer distances. In my opinion TRIJICON uses good glass & their product is tough. TRIJICON also offers a usable mil-dot reticle.

I've used ACOGs & MROs for years & they've always held zero w/ no issues. I'm confident that you can find the 5-20 priced less than the SHV too. FWIW, I'm not a Trijicon fanboy.
