Accuracy International AE Pic Rail Replacement

Murphy Precision has sent over two rails to replace the factory AE rifle.

As many know the factory AE has an uneven spacing that makes it hard to put mounts like the Spuhr on, so Murphy Precision has built two for me, one in Stainless with 0 MOA and one in Ti with 20MOA

This will replace the rails on your AE ...

Look and feel great, I can't wait to mount them on my Mk 1 and Mk III

Tom, i suspect you are going to read this thread....why do AEs have these "different" rails...what's the reason ?

Lowlight, how tall are these compared to the factory AE rail?

I have no complaints with the Ken Farrel base other than it sits almost twice as high as the factory rail.

Definitely a little bit taller.

Cameron addressed this to me when he was building them as it was necessary to raise them in order to get the proper pic spec on there.

But really if you have a MkII or MkIII it shouldn't matter any, you have an adjustable cheek piece. Only on a MkI, it might be an issue.

I was going to ask the same question.

Frank, a side picture of the rail or better yet a picture of it mounted to the receiver would be great.

Looks like I'll be calling Cameron for a new rail for my MkIII and MHSA for a Spuhr.

I will get pictures up, but I haven't changed it yet...

I need to take a trip to Mile High to swap a barrel and do some other work so I will get the images shot as I change everything over.

Having holidays in the middle just slows everything down.

I think these were designed before the SPUHR mount came into existance. AE rails are not really Mil Spec.
I found my 20 MOA rail at US Optic. Mated my AE and S&B 5-25x56 fine.

Depending on the price and quality, one of these will probably end up on my AE MkII. I test mount on it, so this has been a pain for me.

Here is a comparison to the factory AE rail

and mounted

They fit perfectly and look good on the rifle... they are slightly taller as noted.

Which was okay with the original AE, it didn't have the option for an adjustable cheek... but now the AE has adjustable cheek pieces, so the "lowest possible" height is not that big of a deal. and most are using scopes with bigger Objectives so "lowest possible" is not what it used to be.

Remember too it's, 0 MOA, so no can't, it was designed to use the AI mount, however there are a lot more options that do much more than just hold the scope. So not being able to use these adds to the problem.

I would rather be able to put the scope where I want than have the rail dictate.

It will not. The Spuhr AI mount uses an 11mm dovetail rail.

It was necessary to make some bedding when have you mounted the Murphy Precision rail for AE?
I have received one yesterday and I want to put on the rifle tommorow morning...

Mine did not. I check by placing the rail on the receiver and snugging one end. I then look for a gap between the two and reverse the process. If a gap is present I will bed.
