Re: Accuracy International AW vs. Badger M2008
Hi All,
Well I guess I will add my 2 cents…
The first batch of receivers S/N 0001-0100 now known as GEN 1 receivers
Had the following problem.
We had based the firing pin spring on what we were led to believe was a Remington spec spring…it was not!
When we had some failures to fire (Spring fatigue) we looked at the options:
1. Buy REAL Remington springs, which we did, thanks to Remington’s willing to work with us.
2. We had made a change in the cocking piece and the notch in the back of the bolts for the magnums due to the heavier firing pin and, to make sure we never had any issues in the future with interchangeability and reliability, we upgraded ALL the bolts to use the same parts whenever possible.
3. So if you have S/N 2-100 call us and get your bolt upgraded at
NO CHARGE TO YOU!
Gen l vs. Gen ll
When we made the first .308 based receivers we had no intention of making a long action, I really wanted to make a smaller .223 based receiver.
When we displayed the S/A at SHOT, a group of Military officers asked if we could do a .338, so we changed directions. This became the Gen ll, we made some very small dimensional changes to the barrel shank/Headspace and the added a longer
bolt stop to give a better feel to the bolt when at the rear of its stroke.
These changes were added to the S/A when we made the next run of receivers.
As to which to buy, Buy an AI, buy a Badger heck buy one of each, don’t be wimp.
I hope this helps, all the best
Marty
