Hi all, I am in the process of purchasing my new to me 90' AI. But it has multicam finish on it. The owner said it is aftermarket but it looks factory (even have multicam logo). He said the original green sides are nowhere to be found from the previous owner.

My question are:

1 - Has AI ever offered a MultiCam pattern stock side for this early of AW rifle? (1993)
2 - Is this possibly a hydro dip and the original stock just lie beneath?

Thanks All,

Good catch on the picatinny rail! I have no idea either so have to request more close ups. If this is a hydro dip then that's good news since the original stock just lies beneath.

This is the best photo I can find. maybe it has been drilled and tapped in the pass to install rail?

Thats a hydrodip licensed by Multicam (the logo). The pic rails could be installed by Mile highs proshop. Even the models that came with the pic rail later were still just drilled tapped and bonded to the dovetail from the factory.

Those older gen 1 skins are now extremely rare to get, but the new skins set are backwards compatible and fit just fine.

Nice find on the 90s gen AI.... Still may fav. Back then we had to order and wait 4-6 months for them to be imported.

So the hydro dip with some solvent and elbow grease will be easily removable? I dont mind the color but good to know I can bring the original finish out if I want to.
