You MAY be able to fit the MTU through the regular IMUNS.
On my 338 AW (very similar to MTU contour, I believe), I had to turn the lower portion of the IMUNS around and extent it forward to gain a little extra clearance.
Straight tapers look so badass on AI’s. I wish they were the standard.

Do you step down the contour the first couple inches against the receiver? Or do you guys let it touch the inside of the hsndguard right there?
@Huskydriver that ain’t touching. It’s a 1.200” straight proof. I also have 1.250” straights that don’t touch. Only issue I had was trying to do 1.350” straight on the ASR. That’s when it touch at the end of the tube inside. So we tapered it some.
@Huskydriver cool. 1.2” is about the minimum shank diameter you want to have for the tenon threads while still having a shoulder to make contact with the face of the action.

Not bashing anything...Two the rifling looked worse than a savage factory barrel, one the chamber was cut so crooked you could see it with your naked eye. It doesn't matter proof took care of the two I sent back no problem. I have had 6 proof prefits to date. 3 were duds by my standard... The other 3 were okay once I found a load for them same with the replacements...
all my bartleins have hammered right out of the gate so sticking with that

Yes but it's been awhile now since I had that one. That barrel had chatter marks all up and down the rifling too if I recall and copper fouled fiercely.

Question for the AI gurus
The bolt on my AT has suddenly developed some significant drag when working the action. It is almost like there was syrup on it. Not smooth like it used to be. No issues with operation but I miss the slick, smooth operation. Not really sure why. I have tried cleaning it with a carbon remover. Also tried putting a little KG gun oil on the raceways that are cut into the body and on the bottom of the housing at the rear. The bolt body does not feel sticky to me at all.
Nothing seems to help. Any ideas?

What is the condition of the bolt stop? The bolt body is guided by that, so if it is dirty or has a burr in it that could cause a rough feeling.
Did you clean the inside of the action itself? The bolt rides on the bolt stop and the outside surface of the bolt lugs, oiling the flutes on the bolt body won’t do anything.
Yeah, that’s why I said “reasonable”. The 338 Ultra is barely a pound. And you need the weight forward of the action from the top rail to help balance the rifle out. Especially when I swap to the Dominus and cut more weight.
I tried without the top rail and with a heavier suppressor and this was the best all rounded setup. Otherwise it is rear end heavy.
