Hopefully I run into the same. Just got my 6.5 barrel in for my AX308.Oh, got it. My barrels come off by hand so I've never had to wrench them off.
Yeah man! Variety is the spicezzzzY’all are switching barrels? I’m still trying to burn my 308 barrel out before I screw on the dreaded 260 barrel that’s sitting neglected in my safe.
Interesting! Thanks for your input.I just twist until snug, then back off a hair and snap it tight with one fast twist. Then I just use a fix it to 55lb on the screw.
when I had my AX I found 55lb gives me more consistency than the quoted 49 for some reason. Just carried on the practice when I got my AT.
The best AI is a .260 AI...Y’all are switching barrels? I’m still trying to burn my 308 barrel out before I screw on the dreaded 260 barrel that’s sitting neglected in my safe.
Thumbhole is the lords AI. You made the right choice and when judgment day comes you'll be seated at his right hand.Hellofrom across the pond.

Got me a Thumbhole on the way. Couldn't decide between going the whole hog with the AX conversion or getting the Thumbhole. For the sake of £56 I thought I'd try the Thumbhole first.
I was considering getting a contrast cerakote on the action and barrel.. I was thinking FDE or PB.
Hell yeah, fuck them rules![]()
Snuck in a shot of my son shooting out to 1297 yrds. We shoot at a military range and they don’t allow pictures of the range. Steel targets move randomly weekly. We range, shot and impact targets at 852, 906, 1152, and 1297 today. Using 155 gr Palma’s all day.. Like it ain’t no thing to it with this AX. Ranged another one at 1673 yrds though never tried. But it was a nice day at the range shooting with the AI.
That explains alot.Elite sand has been discontinued as a rifle color across all rifles. They are filling existing backorder of ES guns and then it will be no more. Sage Green is coming back as a replacement.

GCP Rifle Co has the elite sand cerakote. They custom color matched my vision chassis when I sent it in last year and it is spot on. I don't know how that will work for you as it seems you’re across the way but maybe if you find an exceptional person that does cerakote, they may be able to color match itWell now I don't know what to do..
I think I read somewhere AIs Elite Sand is proprietary and you can't get Cerakote or anything in the same colour?
So I guess I'm left with buy a Thumbhole in a different colour and Cerakote it all to match or do something else...
Exactly, Sage green is the worst
Probably @96C from that water mark.View attachment 7978388
Anyone know who's gun this is? I think I found this picture on here (possibly even in this very thread) a while ago. Was hoping to find some additional high res pictures and maybe even get some info on what rattle can colors were used. TIA.
Break out the rattle cans! That's reassuring.. but I don't quite fancy posting a Thumbhole across the pond to cerakote it.. maybe I can find somewhere in the UK that'll do it.
Have a chat with Mark at FMJ Firearms, he’s here in UK and has matches for most AI colours I believe. That's reassuring.. but I don't quite fancy posting a Thumbhole across the pond to cerakote it.. maybe I can find somewhere in the UK that'll do it.

Hornady ELD match shot the best for me, the only fgmm I,shot were the Berger 130.s but the hornady shot better for meSo I picked up a 26” 6.5 barrel for my axsa, looking at ammo now and I can find 140 gr fgmm, and 140 gr eld, and the cheaper 123gr American eagle. What are peoples experiences of those rounds in the AXSA?
Interesting, looks like time to buy boxes of what I can find and see what she like the most.Hornady ELD match shot the best for me, the only fgmm I,shot were the Berger 130.s but the hornady shot better for me

Looks like the consensus though is that the 140, and 147 Elds are laser makers.
Good to know, just from looking over many threads on best performing and most accurate 6.5 loadings, many have sung the praises of both the 140 and the 147. I appreciate the info. The 140 has worked ok to well for me in the past (factory and handloads)
I don’t know where are you getting this “consensus” from but id advise to steer clear of the 147eldm anything.
Any special reason why to steer clear of the 147 ? I’ve been using the 147gr factory TAP ammo and my own hand loads with zero issues. The 140 has worked ok to well for me in the past (factory and handloads)

147's have have a tendency to blow up mid flight to target. Hornady refuses to acknowledge the issue and places the blame on every one but themselves. What what I have read, seems isolated to those bullets and not the 140's but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.Any special reason why to steer clear of the 147 ? How's that atx?
Kinda prefer mine already lolI don't know, you haven't bought my AX yet![]()
