Update-

(I have posted this elsewhere but another member suggested that I put it here as well.)

DTA solved the issue by sending me another barrel. Everyone over there was easy to deal with and helpful. Two thumbs up for DTA's customer service.

it's either an optical illusion or those lands and the copper fouling on them, don't look even at all.

Ranger, what you are seeing in the barrel is copper covering the lands and the center of each groove. If you scoped your own barrels you'd see the same thing except more carbon and less copper.
