I scored a couple of pounds of this the other day thinking it would be a close substitute for IMR4064 but apparently not? I was looking at powder options for 8mm Mauser in Hodgdon website which lists IMR4064 but not A4064. Also, the Lyman Manual doesn't even list a burn rate for A4064. Did I buy a useless powder?

I just started using it, probably because of the same reason you did, it was available. I've always used IMR in things like .308 and the AA was close enough (a little slower) on the burn charts that I figured I could make it work. I bought it to use in the 6.5creamoo and so far it's working well for me.
I'd assume they reason you're not finding data in the 8 Mauser is... old. Not high on anyone's list as far as sales/popularity, so no one's in a rush to do testing.
You have data for IMR 4064. AA4064 should be a little slower. There's 8M data available for powders a fair deal slower than that. So with all that you should be able to work something out easy enough.

Thanks I found another burn rate chart that supports what you said. In the meantime I loaded the 21 rounds of 8mm I had with H335. Hodgdon shows 2940fps with a 150gr bullet. That's right there with 308 velocity but with a 323 Dia bullet. Can't wait to slug a hog with that!
