I use a charge of 45 grains of A2520 behind the 168SMK and 168Amax, both loads were very consistent but I have yet to try them in adverse weather conditions. Both standard dev's were around 15 and max was 60 for both loads. I am approaching full load density, and have read that the sperical powders tend to favor near max loads, I cannot speak as to why. You mentioned varget, both loads were more consistent than any varget loads I did, but truth be told I spent nearly no time developing varget loads once I realized I had 3 pounds, and will not see more for the next decade or so. All in all, 2520 is working very well for me in .308.
As a side note, I also have used 23 and 24 grains of 2520 in a .223 AR with a Kreiger Match barrel with 77SMK's, that was a real suprise, shot at 2670-2700 on the nose, (with 24 grains) and had zero pressure signs. The real caveate also im sure you are aware, of how much nicer sphericals are to work with instead of extruded. My rock chucker doenst like to cleave the cylinders in half and I get very erractic throws with varget compared to 2520. The real test for it will be come this winter, when its not 75 degrees and dry out.
