Is it necessary to lap the i.d. bore on a Rem 700 when blue printing the action. IF so, where does one go about getting the mandrel for the action and what grit compound would be best? thanks

No but, it will help the bolt slde through the raceway smoother. You can make your own lapping bar out of a wooden dowell. A diameter of .600" is all you need with 320 grit paper. It works wonders. Take a small file and break the sharp corners on the bolt lugs as well taking care not to hit the machined surfaces.

Re: Action work

Break the edges/corners of the bolt lugs & anti bind slot.
Radius the LH upper aft & RH lower aft lug by stoning.
Locate/Time the bolt handle.
Remove 3/4 of the f/pin striker "COCKED" detent in aft end of bolt body.
Lighten & Time the f/pin.
Adj trigger to 2Lbs.

Swing the bolt with 2 fingers
