The only blue part of VA :(
can you do it? i hate that it only has 1 action screw as opposed to the new ones that have 2. i have one stock that i cant get the damn action to stop wobbling in because its only secured in that one location and the barrel is so heavy (and i completely free floated it - its no longer bedded on the first 3'' of bull barrel to support itself)

thanks!

I seem to recall an article in Precison Shooting magazine about a year ago that touched on that very subject. I'll see if I can find it....

I did just that to put my MKII in a tacticool stock from Boyds. I pulled the extra action screw pillar off my 17. It sits nice and solid.

There was an article about 500 series Remingtons in Precision Shooting December 2009 issue titled "When two screws are better than one... or three".

Smiths noted in article, if you want to discuss with them:

Woody Woodling, Hyatt's Gunshop, Charlotte, NC (704/394-0387)
Dave Goins, Glendale Springs, NC
Tom Wilder, Lake Wylie, SC
Champ Denton, Great Outdoors sporting goods, Cherryville, NC (704/445-8848).

Champ says second screw is not necessary if you bed the action, so there is more than one school of thought on the matter.

Cheers,

Bill
