It's not the "fucking quarter inch" that matters it's the scope ring continually beating on the turret housing if the rings are slipping. May I as what caliber rifle you have there? Is it a .338AI?

That is exactly what I have been wondering. It’s also used for adding friction so it might be. I have a piece of it and I might try someday.

The powder is very fine, very little thickness, it’s the consistency of baby powder
It’s a 300WM and the scope is NOT beating against the turret housing. You don’t have a clue about acceleration and deceleration.
Spuhrs don't need it, but if you need more friction than is provided by the design, it has ridges meant to hold rosin powder. I shoot a 338LM and Spuhr mount, with a Vortex Gen II and it hasn't budged in over 1300 rounds through it.
