I'm thinking of upgrading my scope for shooting steel. We shoot 200-1400 yards at our small monthly shoot and I'm seeing a lot of the newer scopes are going to 34,35 mm tubes. I know that I'll get more elevation from the larger tube but what other benefits are there to moving to a larger tube? I'm currently using a vortex PST 6-24 ffp and it works fine so mostly I'm just wanting to move up to gain better quality. I like the NF F1s but they are 30mm tubes. I'm pleased with my vortex so a razor isn't out of the question. Probably wont have the money to move into a new SB or NF but maybe a used one. Any huge advantage to 34 mm tubes?

In general it adds additional range of adjustment. Notice I said in general. In some cases it also adds rigidity to the main body. You need to do your homework and compare the specs between different manufacturers.
Looks like I would pick up 6 mils total travel on the razor over the F1 but the F1 has 11 mils more than my PST which would be enough. I run out of travel at 14 mils with a 20 moa base which causes around 5-8 mil holdover at 1400 with my scope but should have enough with either the NF or Razor.
The main advantage of using a larger diameter main tube that people most often overlook is that it allows you to use a larger diameter image erector system which in turn allows more light transmission and improved overall image quality. A one inch or even 30mm scope that offers loads of impressive adjustment will most likely offer a compromised image and low light transmission as a result.
