Hey fellas, I would like some advice on the build I'm looking at purchasing, anything would be appreciated, so here's what I have thought about so far. This is my first build I have only had experience on military M16/M4 Colt rifles so I write this humbly.

.)14.5 Noveske Carbine w/Vltor(switching out Vltor) 7"VIS, Lo-Pro Switchblock (I was looking at the Afghan with the stainless steel barrel, but to my understanding the M249 barrel is more resistant to wear, but I will give up on accuracy slightly)

.) Surefire 556kMB (So I understand this is pinned on and is a permanent install, I am putting this on to lessen the barrel movement, my question is can a gun smith take this off once installed or would I have to replace the whole barrel if I wanted to change one or the other, and does this install still allow for a can to be attached.) If anyone has any other recommendations.

Gas Buster cahrging handle
SOPMOD Buttstock
Magpul MIAD
Tango Down QD Vert Grip
Tango Down Rail panel

I also plan on putting an Eotech 553.A65 on it, I went with this because I like the larger field of view over the Aimpoints.

Thanks for your time reading and I would appreciate any responses in regards to changes. I plan on using this for shooting less than 200 yards due to range restrictions in my area, a lot of close range and shooting and moving.

regards

Re: Advice for an AR build

If you plan on changing out the muzzle device later, go with a 16" barrel so it doesn't have to be permanently attached. You probably won't notice the extra 1.5" anyhow, especially on an open range, and you'll get a little more muzzle velocity out of the deal too if you ever want to stretch its legs. I have rifles in both lengths, and while I don't see a whole lot difference between the two ballistic wise (<300yds), I still prefer the 16" for speed drills. I recommend the mid length gas system also. The recoil pulse is noticeably softer than a carbine length, but that could also be combined with other features I have on that rifle...

For the distances you're looking to shoot along with a CQC sight, go with the chrome lined barrel over the SS if you plan on shooting a lot at higher rates of fire.

The PRI will come in handy for shooting suppressed, but if you're not running suppressed right away, take a look at the BCM Gunfighter charging handle. It really is a lot better than milspec, and is tough as hell at half the cost. It's good for practicing reload and FTF drills when you don't want to beat up on the PRI.

Yes, the SF MB556K allows for the fitting of a suppressor, but you're limited to only SF suppressors unless you remove it and use a thread on suppressor.

All in all, it sounds like you're on a good track. Happy shooting!

Redmanss, thanks a lot for the advice I appreciate it, would you recommend a different MB other than the surefire? I was originally going to go with the gunfighter charging handle, but decided to go with the Gasbuster due the features for the suppressed, I wonder if it will stand up the same, it looks pretty durable. Again thanks buddy, and Semper Fi.

Re: Advice for an AR build

Choose your suppressor first, then your muzzle brake so you're not spending money on the same item first. Try contacting someone like 762frmafr for recommendations on the suppressor. He's a SOT dealer for Surefire and many other brands, and is a Hide vendor too.

As for the PRI CH, I didn't say it was weak, I just said the BCM is tough as hell. I prefer to beat up on the cheap and tough one when running heavy drills unsuppressed. The PRI will take a lot of work on its own too. If I'm going to break something and I have an option, it's going to be a $35 something vs. a $90 something....
