Advice for Picatinny rail for 457 Varmint

Hello, I bougth one second hand nacked 457 Varmint.

Now I would buy one rail (20 or 25 MOA) and I'm looking into this models:

I have one doubt about the MDT rail that not have the windows on the proximity of the bullet expulsion windows of the 457, can this make some type of trouble?

Yes the OP are the rail without the cut on the rail make some issue, but once reply are ok for any infos...

You are correct.

I use a rail with the cutout and prefer it that way. Much easier to access the ejection port to clean or clear shells that didn’t clear. I haven’t used a solid rail on it, so cannot speak to that directly.

How many MOA on elevation have your scope?

I currently use a 30 moa rail on my rifle and a scope with a total of 25mil total adjustment. With that combo, I’m still limited to about 15+mil elevation adjustment. With that scope, I’d be better served with 40 moa rail.

I think to buy a scope with 50 MOA elevation range like Vector Sentinel X Pro 10-40x50 sfp MOA or Vector Aston 5-30x56 genll sfp MOA.

Think 20 or 25 MOA are ok for my usage also 30 are ok but this rail have not the cut around the ejection port.

It all depends upon your desired use for the rifle. What distances are you wishing to use this rifle for?

3.4377 moa = 1 milradian

For me to engage targets at 300 yards, center of reticle, I have to dial 12.8 mils (44moa) using a 50y zero.

You really need to do some calculations depending on your expected range of engagement.

50 moa total travel is not much. That's roughly 25 up and 25 down on a flat mount. Add a 20 MOA mount and if it works ideally, and gives you 45 up with 5 down....you'll be cutting it close for 300yds. If your setup's tolerances wind up eating up some of that travel. You could be forced to hold some of the rest.

You want to be able to dial to your max preferred distance (300yds for example). You do not want to run short on turret travel and be forced to hold the rest. Approximately 7 mils (24 MOA) is needed on average for 200yds. And roughly 14 mils (48 MOA) for 300yds. That's how much useable travel you need. So total travel needs to be double that

Whatever scope you buy. The canted rail shouldn't exceed 45% of the total travel specification.
If it does....you run the risk of bottoming out the elevation turret when performing initial zeroing. You want a buffer off the very bottom of travel.

You buy a 100 MOA total travel scope for example.....rail should not exceed 45 MOA. If using mils....multiply the mils listed total travel spec by 3.438 to get the MOA figure. Then multiply that number by .45 to get max rail cant. 10 mils for example is 10 x 3.438 = 34.38 MOA total travel. 34.38 x .45 = 15.471. Get no more than a 15 MOA canted rail.

Ok I run on my 6,5x47 Lapua one Sightron Slll 10-50x60 lrmoa2.
This scope can manage on elevation 50 MOA, the rail are 20 MOA, these values made the combination elevation range of scope and rail correct right?

I have worries to buy one MIL scope, but often MIL scope head more than 20MIL (about 70 MOA)

I shoot my CZ457 past 310 yards (292+ meters) using SK std. plus all the time. I’ve even had it out to 400 yards (365 meters) with no trouble. 10” and 12” plates at 308y is a common stage setup here. Using 13.7 mils (47 MOA).

Hello, this morning the rail was arrived to my house from Czeck Repubblic, I made the purchased from here because the rail plus shipping (about 1 week from the payment to the arrive) cost me less than the only rail picked to the local country store....

I purchased the rail from the second link on the OP.

Best piece of hardware from CZ!

I have one questione about the double installation, the rail can be installed whitout a medium threadlocker or are preferable some drops of this locktite?

The scope weitgh about 40Lbs.

Unless the included instructions say not to use a threadlocker it is one less thing to worry about. A medium strength such as Loctite 242 blue or Vibra-tite VC-3 or equivalents are fine.

The rail have not instruction.
The amount of torque needed are stamped on the rail.

But I worry that the treadlocker can shift up the amount of torque...
