I already have a 15-22 but I am starting to want something that I can get closer to feel of my actual guns for training as I practice at least half the time on the 22 just for ammo cost. So priority is to very closely match the weight and balance of a roughly 16” bcm (obviously controls etc as well) while maintaining high reliability. So far the 15-22 is very reliable and much better than prior cmmg bolt conversions. Does anyone have experience with something like a Nordic or jp barrel conversion Or possibly something like the kriss? How reliable are they, I don’t want to break practice by clearing stove pipes etc every coupl magazines. Any other more realistic options that I can’t think of?

Yeah that is what I would do with the jp, I am just looking how well those work with bolt hold open and how well they feed vs 15-22 and other. Also are they compatible with things like geissele triggers?

I run an MBT in my 15-22 and it is flawless but I had to get some anti walk pins on it because it didn't like to stay in position with the poly lower for some reason.

Sorry should have clarified; I am keeping the 15-22 so all my questions are only for the other options (things like deidcated upper ala jp or Nordic etc or close proximity in weight/balance with identical ar controls like the kriss etc). I have the 15-22 but the feel in Transitions etc is not all that close as it balances differently.

The JP is a great system. You can order up the complete upper or you can order the barrel which will come with the necessary components to build an identical upper to your current rifle.

I run the cmmg conversion in a super cheap spare PSA upper I had lying around from a few years ago. It’s not the most accurate thing in the world but it’s pretty reliable and from a trainer perspective it’s great. Runs mil spec and Geissele G2S triggers just fine btw; have only tried the .22 upper on lowers with those triggers in them.

I'm considering fabricating some weights for my 15-22 for similar reasons.

The "buffer" tube is hollow and i think i can fit about .75 lbs in there. Took some measurements yesterday and it looks like I can cut some black iron pipe to length and slide it under the handguard while still floating the barrel.

I may also swap out the stock for a Vltor and fill the battery compartments with steel.

If I can get close to 6.5lbs ill be happy.
