So at first I was dead set on doing an M40A5 build for a nice field rifle, not necessarily a complete clone, but close to it.

However after doing some research and talking with some folks, looking at cost, weight, accuracy etc. I'm now debating between the following.

M40A5 - changes being a 5-25 PM II/LP/MTC/LT, Badger Ordnance 20 MOA top rail, and rings that will accommodate a kill flash and Butler Creek caps.

or

AICS AX Stock
Surgeon 591R (with .550 bolt face bolt)
Kreiger or Schneider barrel
Surefire brake
Remington factory trigger (tuned)

Any thoughts about the pros/cons of these two rifles?

Re: Advice on build?

All comes down to what you like and what you want. A gun that will shoot is a gun that will shoot, the details of what parts you picked to get there are just so much hand wringing.

If you're building it yourself I think the 591 is a lot easier to get a good shooter out of since you can typically skip any action work and just go straight to the barrel fitting. Also you save yourself the cost of a lug assembly jig and/or pinning it.
